Most Doctor Who fans go on marathons from time to time, so I’m making this thread so people can talk about their audio marathons with one another, whether it’s a single range or the entire catalog of audio stories!
I, myself, am working my way through all the mainline Doctor Who audio titles from Big Finish. Not just the Main Range, but the Companion Chronicles, individual Doctor adventures ranges, short trips, etc. in (mostly) release order. No spin-offs though. I am listening to Memory Lane and just finished The Gathering this morning. I have heard both before. I liked The Gathering a lot more this time around and I’m finding myself enjoying Memory Lane a lot more too.
Anyway, what are you marathoning at the moment? What do you think of your most recent listens? Keep me (and hopefully others) up to date, and don’t feel you have to keep it exclusively to Big Finish audios.
I’m (extremely slowly) marathoning the 7/Ace/Hex audios! Only up to The Magic Mousetrap so far. I’m writing up my thoughts as I go on Tumblr (except it’s been ages since I last listened to one, so this can act as a bit of a wake-up call…)
I’m pretty much trying to get through a large chunk of it while unemployed, before I can work again (pesky visa issues), so rn I’m doing a bunch of box-sets. Trying to avoid the main range for now due to the format, length per ep, and sheer number of how many there are! Also trying to keep up as each month comes out too!
I’m always relistening to Gallifrey on loop, I don’t even think that counts as a marathon to me anymore haha
Right now I’m blasting my way through the 11 and Valarie stuff, and I’m also working my way through the Main Range and I started the 4DAs also. I pretty much always start at the start of a range and go from there, in order
Currently I am listening to Gallifrey still for the first time (only eight more stories to go rn ) then after that I’m doing a year long gallifrey relisten. And simultaneously I am slowly working on my Romana project, which is to complete all of Romana’s stories [1]
and I am also considering a Leela quest the same way but maybe I should limit the number of marathons at the same time ↩︎
Same tbh unless I’m catching up on something. I binged all the Torchwood monthlies I put off (mainly TV cast ones) which was like 20+ in December. Then binged all of the ‘New Adventures’ of Benny which took a while!
I’m slowly making my way through the 8th Dr audios in order (next up is Terror Firma) as well as Gallifrey (I have listened to S1-3 and will relisten before moving onto S4).
I’m planning to slowly marathon all of the Benny books and audios, which I’ve recently got obsessed with, and I’m up to series 3 for the audios. Usually though I tend to listen to stories randomly, I’m not one for listening in order because my brain jumps around all the time and I’m constantly trying new things. In the past the only ranges I’ve really marathoned were Gallifrey and Doom Coalition/Ravenous.
My marathon is currently in a holding pattern. I’m up to Nekromanteia, after having started at Oh, no it isn’t. It took me about 6 months to get there.
Generally I tend to go through spurts of listening, where I will listen to 3, or more, serials in a day, then I may take a few days or weeks off and do the same again. As long as I’m listening to more than is being released, I’ll be happy knowing that eventually I will catch up.
I have so many marathons on at the same time I’m getting quite overwhelmed. Thinking about it, I’m not sure there are many ranges that I’ve actually 100% completed - probably The Diary of River Song / The Life and Death of River Song and Eleven & Valarie are the only ones I am up to date with…

Wow, looking at that I really have issues with just committing and completing things
My main marathon is Benny - I read books in chronological order according to Tardis Wiki, VNA is quite interesting publishing house ans so far so good. But this marathon will be going forever because in parallel I listen to other staff as well. And my way to the Benny’s audio seems long enough
I’m slowly working my way through the 11 and Valarie audios plus the Short Trips from the Paul Spragg contests. The latest 11DC audio I listened to was Curiosity Shop. Haven’t bought the rest yet because I wanted to finish the second boxset first.
Oh, I did that a couple years ago. I think it might be my favorite Big Finish arc. Last two stories were a bit eh, but as a whole, the entire run is fantastic!
