Ah, the Big Finish audio in which Michelle Gomez plays a character that’s not Missy.

I feel like this story gets a bad reputation when really its fine. Its far from the best story ever, but at the same time its entertaining enough and you can tell Michelle Gomez is having a hoot playing her role.

That was honestly one of the most nothing stories I’ve ever heard. Just listened to it and I honestly cannot name a single thing that happened in it. I know its 7 and pre-Missy Michelle Gomez bumping around on a planet infested with giant termites but everything else was in one ear and out the other. Two hours I will never get back. 1/10.

I have absolutely nothing to say about this story. That is all.

I gave this one 3/5 which means I must have thought it was okay, but I have little to no memory of what happens in it which based on what everyone else is saying, is for a reason :person_shrugging:

I seem to be in agreement with everyone else when I say this was a super forgettable story, I remember picking it out in a sale a couple of years ago because the cover looked interesting, but the story itself was just fine, there’s literally nothing more I can say lol

Honestly, I think the cover is the best part of this release. It’s beautiful. Michelle Gomez is a hoot in the extras as well.

Man, the stories in this era were dire! This one is so unmemorable for me, I confused it for “Nocturne”, a contemporary Seventh Doctor adventure. I was a captive audience, too, listening during my commute.

What can I say that isn’t about Michelle Gomez or Marc Platt’s amazing worldbuilding? I suppose that this was one of the first stories with a BTS track, called CD Extras by Nicholas Briggs in a robotic voice. These early tracks, before they were standardized in late 2009,[1] have an interesting feel to them.

  1. once they started beginning with that throppy sound ↩︎

I gave this a 6/10 I honestly have no recollection of this story apart from Michelle gomez has always been awesome and McCoy is great as ever.

Even after reading the reviews and plot points and comments I literally have no idea of this story apart from the two mentioned above.

Maybe a relisten in order solely to see if it is as forgettable as I … remember(?)(pun not intended)

I do think this I do think this one has some good cyberpunk stuff going on with its deprived human colony, political corruption and trading in people as commodities as a capitalistic attempt to prove the MotW as a species to take seriously. There’s also some great 7th doctor moments. It’s just a shame it’s buried under thick piles of dull, played out giant bug stuff that really flatten the whole thing into something that feels unexceptional, and there’s a few too many ideas that just don’t go anywhere (eg the riot stuff)
