Audio Club: The Sirens of Time

I’d like to know who the ā– ā– ā– ā–  it is as well - or where he went at the very least…

Third time I listened to this audio today. It’s still very rough around the edges; the plot is all over the place and confusing at times; the first three parts are pretty boring, while the fourth is overlong and complex; the three Doctors are superb; Maggie Stables is weird in a pre-Evelyn role; Mark Gatiss is fun; I’m still not entirely sure I understand what’s going on here. It’s sort of a long trailer for what BF has to offer, and I’m happy that it was successful enough to help BF establish themselves and continue making these 25 years later!

Still, I wouldn’t recommend it for first-time listeners.

I really can’t deal with all this Sirens of Time critique! I’ve always loved it.

I’ve always loved it as much as this:

I can already say that I prefer the Redux version, and I’m only halfway through it.

And I like that picture, but it feels like I’ve seen it somewhere before…

You should make that your avatar at this point.

I’m starting to get the impression that Delta likes Sirens of Time

Yeah, it’s okay

It is unfairly hated. Is it the best story ever? No. But it does set the stage for the next 2 decades of releases.

I rather enjoy the 3 separate stories, and then them combining in the last part.

I think part of the indifference towards this story is that most people listening to it are spoiled for choice when it comes to Big Finish. Experiencing it on original release in the wilderness years was an entirely different thing.

Just to make it clear, I don’t hate the story, it’s just a bit meh to me. There are many worse and many better stories out there.

Then we could all marvel at his dashing and youthful presence all day long!

I thought you would say it’s ā€œjust fineā€

@BillFiler I feel like it is time to make a meme of this! Any suggestions?

Hmm this requires some thought…

Prime meme material

I’m reading out a spelling test to my class and I nearly spat out my sip of tea when I clicked on this!

Don’t spit tea on the kids. That is not very nice of you! And why are you on TG when you are reading out stuff to the kids?

Because I’m reading it off my computer and doing spelling tests is boring.

(Seriously, they are pointless but they are something parents expect so we keep doing them).

I decided to finally listen to the Main Range in order (rather than just the Eighth Doctor’s audios) now that I finished Classic. I’ve heard this one is pretty boring and confusing, and yes, it was. There’s some stuff I like, but for the most part I just found it really hard to focus on the story. I was doing embroidery while listening, which is usually something I can do for hours without trouble as long as I have some good music on, but I found myself continuously reaching for my phone to try and find something more engaging. That basically never happens to me when I’m listening to audio and doing something with my hands already at the same time!

For me, this was the least confusing part of the story. It’s everything around it that made me go ???.

It does low key bum me out that this is the first Main Range Big Finish story as I feel it’s one of the very weakest from the first 50 (2/10 imo). The fact this is where people often start is a lost opportunity to get people excited about some of the incredible output that they have been responsible for over the years.
