This one’s great actually, really underrated but one of my favourite celebrity historicals

The climactic scene with

Peri, Erimem and Vlad on the castle walls

is genuinely nail biting stuff

This is the story that made me realise I don’t like pure historicals.

The script is intelligent, the scale is epic and the pace is excellent but it’s also full of tropes and unnecessary contrivance, and it is the second historical story in a row where Erimem is unnaturally forced into odds with the Doctor for the absolute dumbest reasons.

I remember wanting to like this one. And then being bored out of my mind by the end. I think this one started well but turned into such a slog by the end that I was just hoping for it to be over soon. No idea why it’s so highly rated tbh

A tense, gripping celebrity historical that hits all the right notes. A highlight of the Perimem run easily. 9/10.

Yep, I’m in the 9/10 camp as well. I think this one is hugely underrated.

This was among the stories which made me realize I like neat endings. After the tense climax mentioned by @agitatedbees, it was disappointing to not have any falling action.

It’s been a long long time on this one for me, but I remember it definitely being a favorite.

I adore the Erimem run and especially the pure historicals, (son of the dragon, council of Nicaea, church and the crown) What I remember from this one is atmosphere and tension, and that the stakes felt very high for the Doctor and companions. I remember feeling very engaged the whole way through, and thinking that Vlad’s character was very well written as a threat to the TARDIS team.

It’s so good. One of my all time favorites. It’s a beautiful, tense story with Caroline Morris’s best performance as Erimem. I love this story so much.

I really enjoyed this one it was a thrilling story tense dramatic just a great piece and I love Erimem pushing back (even if she’s naïve and will listen to the first person she meets usually) on the doctor
