An interesting concept, with generations of war on Earth being used as part of a Dalek scheme, that is just wasted.
The inclusion and subsequent treatment of Floyd is just deeply uncomfortable to recollect, and I have a quite visceral… maybe not hate, but sour feeling towards this audio for that reason alone.
A bit of a mess this one, but surprisingly enjoyable. It doesn’t always make a lot of sense and there are too many moving parts, but some of the ideas are fun.
A chaotic but ambitious Dalek epic where the Doctor and Nyssa are split across time while American soldiers attempt to rewrite history. The plot leaps from the Crusades to the Vietnam War, introduces nano-Daleks, a humanoid Dalek named Greylish, and a misplaced toy Dalek inside the TARDIS. It’s confusing but conceptually bold, with Nyssa finally shining in the last act and the Doctor navigating one of the strangest Dalek schemes ever devised.
Here’s my non-spoilery review for those who fancy a read. Thanks!
In hindsight, “Based on a story by” was a big, stinking hint that this was going to be mediocre at best. The cover is a mess, the plot is a mess, the primordial fam is interesting, but a mess, and the treatment of Floyd mentioned by @mahan doesn’t help matters. The only things I can give credit the story for are the intrigue surrounding the lack of a writer, and the brand-new cover design, which I wish had stuck around past the change in logo in 2018. Hasn’t been as good since then.
