Audio Club: Invaders from Mars

I wouldn’t say I was disappointed with the story, but it fell flat in a few areas that I wish it hadn’t.

Great historical context, generally okay characters. The writing wasn’t poor, I actually think that the acting let it down.

I’m having a bit of a similar reaction to playing something like Oblivion or Skyrim… it feels like Big Finish (at least as this point, I get that it’s earlier) only have a few recurring voice actors and that breaks my immersion a little bit.

As always with the American stories thus far, the accents range from being sub-par to outright parody.

A solid story. Nothing really to write home about, but well done.

In the beginning I rolled my eyes at the bad accents, but by about 1/4 of the way through I was engaged with what was happening.

I love the Welles stuff, even if it is mostly urban legend.

3.5/5

Just listened to this today and I enjoyed it, solid 3 stars - which is my “nothing special but on average I’m happy” rating.
Could have been 4 with a little tightening of the plot and better accents - I couldn’t tell the difference between half the “american” gangsters, but it didn’t really matter because most of them dropped dead in their second scene anyway
Much better than Minuet in Hell, here it was quite clear everyone was treating it as a bit of fun rather than pretending to be serious.
