Alright, I guess I’ll finally listen to this series…

This is a really fun prologue to start things off. Alfie Shaw’s script is very charming and witty, Jacob Dudman is good as everyone says as Eleven (I don’t think he’s quite pitch-perfect, but he is probably about as close as humanly possible while not literally being Matt Smith) and I loved all the little scenarios covered here in such a short space of time. The brief exchange with River is genuinely a first-rate piece of writing.

Not specifically related to the story, but listening to this I’m also reminded how much I like the 7b theme tune. There’s a bit more energy to it than the series 5/6 version, it’s a shame it didn’t stick around longer.

I’ve actually listened to this series before so I think I might just take part in this Audio Club Extra!

Prologue - Clara was the one bit of Series 7V that I didn’t listen to first time around. And my verdict now that I have: yeah, it’s alright.

It’s 11 looking for Clara for 5 minutes. That’s it lol. Looking forward to relistening to the rest of 7V though!

This “prologue” (glad they dropped Moffat’s misuse of the word “prequel”) is fine, it sets the scene of where this series is going to go - he’s looking for Clara but will be distracted along the way.

Jacob’s impression isn’t as good here as it gets later on, I guess he improves with practice!

It’s a light bit of fun with some callbacks.

One thing bugs me so much though:

Big Finish have Alex Kingston on payroll and they are doing a box set with the Eleventh Doctor and there is a scene where he calls her and they don’t even get her to voice a single line??

More to the point, she’s nowhere to be seen in any of the box sets? :sob:

I gave it 3.5/5

Stick around, the rest is amazing!

Due to the fact that this is only seven minutes long I’m pretty sure what I wanted to say has already been said
It’s a solid opener, got me in the mood for a new series with 11, so absolutely does its job, 8/10

Not much I can add that hasn’t been said here but this is a solid little extra. It sets up one of the best Big Finish series of all time. Jacob Dudman is excellent.

It’s obviously cause they’re saving the crossover for the 4th 11DA boxset, duh

This little 6-minute audio serves as a light-hearted introduction to Eleven’s travels with Valarie Lockwood.

It’s short but very funny and packs a punch thanks to Dudman’s amazing acting and a couple of fun nods to the Brigadier and River.

But the real good stuff starts next week!

I’ve always loved Clara and was so glad to hear that this new series was tied up with 7B, as I feel 7B gets a lot of hate but it’s genuinely my favourite season ever lol. So very glad this kept in-spirit with that era, even if they didn’t have to and could’ve made something entirely removed.

Well, this Audio actually made me laugh out loud a couple of times, so that’s a plus in my book! (But Eleven’s ‘Sexy’ is my least favourite nickname for the TARDIS, so I didn’t like that popping up at the end). However, in other regards - a great little short! 8/10

I remember everything about this arc but the prologue—probably because I immediately started “The Inheritance”—so I had to relisten to it. ‘Tis fine. The first scene reminds me of the scene in “The Impossible Astronaut” when the Doctor is caught under someone’s skirt, I like the references to the Rocket Men and Brigadier, and the subversion with the RYC bar is funny. The highlight by far is Jacob Dudman’s voice acting. This was my first BF story featuring his impression, and he was as good as he is in this DotD recreation with Jon Culshaw. (Unlisted, for some reason…)

Knowing the intentions of who sent the message, bringing in the Doctor with “Earth in danger!” is such a dick move…

I find the theme too gummy, if that makes sense, and believe that the energy was abandoned with the drumbeat. Interesting to learn that someone feels differently.

Don’t worry, you’re not the only person who doesn’t like the nickname, it comes up in this series!

I think the S7B theme might be my least favorite of all the new series arrangements, sadly…although I do honestly hate the piano in the Ncuti era theme, that one is rough. The S7B one is just so all-over-the-place though, the noises almost feel purely random.

My thoughts, well thought I guess.

Short and sweet. Not much to say about it. I am just excited to have an “excuse” for listening to 7V once more

A nice series of vignettes, very much in the style of the cold opens from this era of Doctor Who. Jacob Dudman does an excellent job of performing the Eleventh Doctor with the occasional slip that reminds you it isn’t Matt Smith. He even has the low, talking to himself voice down. The writing really feels on point for this era. This was very enjoyable.
