Another relatively dull entry in the sagaā¦ I listened to this yesterday and already forgot all the main beats of the plot except the ending, which although one could see it coming from a mile off, Iāll give them that it is an interesting ātwistā.
Alby continues to piss me off by existing, and I actively was annoyed by Suz in this one too. āāOuuugg Iāll kill myself if you donāt stop being meanies :(āā ok but you literally wonāt and we all know it so stop making useless threats. That really irritated me
I do have a positive though! I did love the new character of Morli, I thought she was great fun. I also thought the actress wasnāt good, but I can put that aside because finally this series has a character I actually enjoy and brings a tiny bit of well needed levity. I get why this series is dark and serious and I do like the tone, but itās very sameily grim. A spot of levity is appreciated now and again.
Yeah, this was a return to the muddled, boring, and aimless storytelling that plagued last season. I donāt really know what happens in it, and I donāt really care.
A dull and structureless entry, Dalek War: Chapter Two fails to build upon the promise of its predecessor. With unengaging characters, aimless plotting, and uninspired sound design, it feels like little more than Daleks shouting at each other for an hour. A missed opportunity that does little to justify its runtime.

I wish they would just tell this story in order. I spent a lot of this episode thinking Iād accidentally skipped a track about Albie on the hospital ship only for the flashback to kick in later on.
I donāt think I disliked this instalment as much as others but canāt disagree that the series seems to be treading water - a bit like Series 1 did during parts 2 and 3. I agree with @sircarolyn about Suzās āIāll kill myselfā being completely pointless. Morli is odd too - I donāt actually remember but I feel like sheās going to be revealed as some sort of Dalek agent because sheās so overplayed it just seems like misdirection (but really bad misdirection).
I couldnāt work out if Morli was meant to be a child character played by an adult. She comes across as a bit clueless.
I would love to read detailed reviews or something about this series by someone who absolutely loves the pants off it. This series has always existed peripherally to me as one that is āpretty damn goodā but Iām sad that Iām really not feeling it and Iād love to see what a lover of it thought, even if I were to disagree
As a self-declared ānot a massive fan of the Daleksā, I remembered enjoying this first time round a lot more than I am this time. What usually annoys me about Dalek stories is annoying me and I donāt remember it doing that before. Itās a bit frustrating. I think one problem is how obvious it is that Briggs and Brooker are playing so many roles and the other is, as people are pointing out and Iām starting to realise, how annoying Suz and Alby are. If it wasnāt for Gareth Thomas giving it some class via Kalendorf, I think Iād think even less of it.
That said, Iām still intrigued to relisten to 3 and 4 (and Iām not 100% convinced Iāve even listened to 4 before) but maybe not for a while.
(On which note, we need to have a think about where we want Audio Club Extra to visit next - expect a poll tomorrow sometime).
Another 4/5 episode from me. While being told in flashback takes a bit to get used to, I really enjoyed the action and where the story is going.
Iām still enjoying all the characters.
This was probably the weakest story so far for me. It just felt so boring. I donāt know why weāre getting yet another new character, and one thatās so two dimensional at that. Still donāt care for Suz and Albieās relationship, it just feels unrealistic at this point. I think if they had introduced them as an existing couple in the premiere episode it wouldāve made all the difference, instead of them barely knowing each other yet being āIn loveā.
Its like the writer went to Newcastle once and was like āSure, what the hellā and threw in a Georgie-ism in every sentence
It is probably the weakest episode of this spin-off, but itās not bad imo, just mediocre. Iāll give it a 6/10
I did not expect the random S-words here honestly. Iām not against it, just surprised
