I was debating whether or not to continue with this series since the first season was a disappointment, but Iā€™m happy that I did. While far from perfect, this one was an intriguing opening chapter to Dalek War, and Iā€™m interested in hearing where the following chapters will take it. This was a slow build-up to an interesting conflict with a couple of great twists at the end.

Dalek War gets off to a slow but intriguing start, re-establishing characters and setting the stage for a complex conflict. The idea of a Dalek-on-Dalek war is fresh, and the introduction of the Mentorā€™s Daleks adds an unexpected layer to the usual extermination-fuelled chaos. While the story initially struggles with pacing, it picks up once Suz returns and the stakes become clearer. With political manoeuvring, shifting alliances, and the looming threat of the Dalek Emperorā€™s hidden consciousness, this is a war with far more than just survival at stake.

I also made a review to this one! Really great first episode imo:

Liked this one but thought it was a step down from season 1.

I thought it was a shame the ep begins with a bold choice of throwing us into the middle of the new status quo but then fills the episode with flashbacks.
I do think the mentor is an interesting character an Iā€™m invested in where the story goes.

Havenā€™t listened to it yet, but can say theyā€™ve already changed one of my least favourite things from the first season

As much as I do think some of the covers of that season were good (especially Project Infinity)ā€¦

What were they thinking with that font?!

Now this

Clean, Clear, Effective cover, great font, and I love how not only are the circles representing the bumps etheric beam locators, but the part number of the story changes which of the circles itā€™s in

Just a masterclass of Big Finish Covers imo

Really enjoyed this opener, Iā€™m definitely a fan of the series as a whole. Intrigued as to what happens next, feels like a big step up from Series 1 and theyā€™ve found their footing. The concepts are really good!

I listened to this a couple of weeks ago.

For about 1/4 of this one I was trying to remember what happened at the end of the previous series. It had been 6 months.

This one really feels like a thriller subplot in a large war movie. The mentor, and ā€œherā€ Daleks were interesting, and I couldnā€™t wait to continue the story.

3.5/5

Certainly more engaging than the last episode, and I am intrigued where this is going, but I also rolled my eyes in places and I find Suz and Alby irritating

Their relationship justā€¦ doesnā€™t feel believable :sob:

Itā€™s not even non believable itā€™s just bland and dull and seems like its only function is being a reason to have Alby there at all. It isnā€™t working for me.

Still, I keep hoping this series will grow on me

That was a bit weird. Itā€™s like a whole episode of ā€˜previously on Dalek Empireā€™ and a lot of it just seemed like it was retelling me stuff I already knew. Not a fan of Mirana being back as I was underwhelmed by her last time (100% in a parallel universe, that role is played by Chase Masterson) and Alby is starting to bore me too. Suz continues to be one note.

I really only like Kalendorf, Iā€™ve realised. I do like the Mentor (and remember enjoying the character first time I listened to this series).
