I need to relisten to this this week because the finer details escape me but I do remember this one having a huge impact on me when I listened to it. Excellent little audio, and Lisa Bowerman knocking it out of the park as usual
I haven’t listened to it for years. Is this the one where she has to decide whether or not to kill a dictator when they are a child, or something like that…
I went in with no expectations, and this one blew me away. It grows in tension organically, and it is thought-provoking, depressing, and unsettling, especially when delivering its final gut punches towards the end. It’s a testament to how great short-form storytelling with only two actors can be.
Don’t miss out on this one!

Closure is a triumph of atmosphere and character-driven storytelling. Paul Cornell’s dark, gripping script digs deep into moral complexity, while Lisa Bowerman delivers a stunning, steely performance as a Benny willing to do whatever it takes to prevent future atrocities. Despite a slow start, the emotional payoff is powerful, cementing this as one of the standout entries in Benny’s early Big Finish adventures. Grim, tense, and utterly compelling.
You’re welcome to read my full review below (spoiler warning):
What a contrast to Making Myths. A tight, effective musing on an iconic time travel dilemma performed superbly by Bowerman.
And did people listen to the Paul Cornell interview that accompanied these two stories on the CD? In it he mentions how all of the torture details in this are based on fact and are real things that actually happened. He knew someone who had been an interrogator for Cyprus. It really makes the things Bernice describes far more powerful.
Ah, okay. It was interesting because he also talked about how he felt about Bernice taking on a life of her own in the audios and books, his initial thinking behind the character and then the background to Closure.
It also had Gary Russell (who was interviewing him) mentioning they were coming to the end of the 20th century and suddenly I felt really, really old…
