No this is pure fun. Also weird how similar the twists in this and Square One are. Not a dig just an observation
This was quite fun, but I was expecting more songs to be honest. 6/10!
3 parts of quite terribly boring set up to conclude with a marvelous fourth episode. So in the end it was worth it enough for a 7/10 i think.
Also, first time they used a different theme outside of 8s stories right? Plus Nicholas doing the little fake TV-intro’s. That was cute.
Yup! They’ll be using era-specific theme tunes in the MR releases from now on!
This one is quite fun! Doctor Who does EuroVision and it’s pretty entertaining. With a story like that you need a good cast of characters and I think we got that here. I think especially Bonnie gets great material here, and it’s a nice change of pace, having a much lighthearted Seven yet again. Overall, I think it feels like a refined Story that could come from Season 24 (if they had a bigger budget), which I quite like.
In terms of its writer, I fully agree with @deltaandthebannermen on that Topic, couldn’t say it better myself. But then again, I can’t blame anybody for having a bad taste knowing Roberts took a large part in the devolpment of this Story.
We finally have era-specific theme music!!!
I actually like this one more than The One Doctor. I think that’s because, despite having no interest in Eurovision, I’m fairly familiar with Star Trek so I get the humor a lot more and find this funnier.
I love that they brought back the whole mixing metaphors thing from early Season 24. Also, we need Pakhars in the TV show.
So…
This one had an interesting idea behind it, and to start with I was rather enjoying it. Star Trek is a franchise I love, and there were plenty of references to other sci-fi that I enjoy. Babylon 5, Space: 1999 just to name two.
Sadly, it just kept going, and going, and going. If it had been 1 CD I think I would have enjoyed it more, but scenes, specifically the original commentator, and ships logs, just kept going longer than was necessary. The fake out ending was fun, but it was too little, too late for me.
The acting was great, and the characters were interesting, but It was a serial I had to listen to in three sittings.
In conclusion; interesting idea, but it went on far, far to long.
2.5/5 (5/10)
Adored this one. So fun, so camp and a great listen! The fake-out ending in the final part was so funny
