The Prisoner is not the same as Doctor Who. It’s very much Patrick McGoohan’s show and story. But I guess I haven’t tried the audios, so maybe they are okay. I just think The Prisoner is harder to replicate.

The BF Prisoner series is fine. Not the best in the world, but not bad by any stretch.
Now the American remake from 2009… eugh.

Sale on Dark Shadows, and man they really want to get rid of those cds because a lot only have the cd option on sale lol.
(gotta mention though just in case: this is mostly fun for collectors, because a very large chunk of these is freely available on spotify and other such streaming services)

The Big Finish Prisoner starts off very well, and Mark Elstob does a superb job of stepping into Patrick McGoohan’s deck shoes. Volume 1 was perfect, but then things started to go off the rails with the second volume, and the third was just dire. I think there were two problems. One was that Nick Briggs got hung up on an episode of the TV series called ‘Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling,’ which concerned body-swapping (a necessity, as McGoohan was away filming Ice Station Zebra). The other problem was that Nick really should not have kept it as a vanity piece for himself. After doing a magnificent job of setting things up, he should have let some other (better) writers take a crack at playing in The Village sandbox.
For anyone not willing to part with their hard earned cash, the adaptation occasionally turns up on Radio 4 Extra.

Big Finish Dark Shadows is really hit and miss. When they are good they are superb but when they are bad they are just eye-wateringly dire. Alas, more often than not, they are bad.

Yeah, it’s not much use to me either. The War Room CD bundle that I’ve been eyeing isn’t actually reduced at all. Though I might just ask my dad which Time War ones he got for my birthday in four weeks, so I can get any that I’d be missing (I asked him for CDs, so it might be missing TW2 but knowing him he could have also looked for them elsewhere so who knows)
