Been really enjoying this book so far and wondering if anyone else has thoughts on it, so i thought i’d start a thread for it!
I think it’s a really great blend of classic and new who

I really enjoyed this and the way it told not one, but two stories with the different timelines. I will say I am sad, and sad for Sophie Aldred, that it doesn’t fit in with TV canon anymore. I know it doesn’t bother most people, but it was a bit annoying

Oh this was such a good book, and made so much better given everything Ace has been through in her life,
Definitely easier to appreciate the better you already know the character

I am a bit conflicted on this.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good Read, but there are a few Decisions with Ace that I personally don’t agree with. (Can I also mention my dislike for the whole charitable earth aspect that some recent EU Stories have been pushing for? Not a bad Idea, but I don’t know why Ace was picked for it).
It’s a good read for sure and quite easily digestible with some good Moments, but I am a bit conflicted about it nonetheless.

I VIEW THIS THE OPPOSITE WAY, THE TV SHOW IS NON-CANON NOW BECAUSE THIS ACE IS EXPLICITLY THE ONE TRUE ACE TEXTUALLY. Sorry, left caps on there.

I think this one follows on from “In Remembrance” (Class Audio Adventures Volume 2, Story 3) rather well. Then again, I think the Torchwood Ace stories aren’t doing either of them justice mostly. (I have only heard the first two though.)
I read this book in a couple hours when I got it, and it made me have faith in the show again, even though I prefer the similar referencing scenes in Scratchman.
I think the Doctor is done well here (and the Novel Adaptation would be well-deserved honestly) and I liked the tea conversations.
In some parts I thought it could be longer though. I have latched onto the ending a bit, despite not liking Will. I preferred Chantelle more and remember wanting more of her.

Definitely listen to it. I really didn’t like the story, but I still highly reccomend the audiobook, Sophie Aldred’s voice acting is incredible. Her 13 is near perfect. She has clear, distinct, and instantly recognizable voices for 7, 13, Ryan, Yaz, Graham, and all the original characters. She even clearly and naturally distinguishes between young flashback Ace, modern older Ace, and Sophie Aldred the narrator. It’s an incredible performance.

I read this is December, and really enjoyed it. The beldn between nu and classic Who was well handled I thought and some nice explanations for things (
including further specifics of how Ace ended up in Iceworld in Dragonfire
).
