For those unaware, tokusatsu just means special effects filming and is basically any drama or film that uses them heavily. Though it’s mostly used when talking about henshin hero and Kyodai hero shows. Yknow power rangers? That’s a tokusatsu, and it uses footage from the Japanese series super sentai. Godzilla? Also a tokusatsu.
Anyway, what are yall watching? Anything you wanna watch? Want recs?
Oh and the quote is from Shin Ultraman.
Realised we have a few fans here so finally created the thread haha

Right. Ima kickstart this thread to say I’ve just finished Ultraman omega!! Which was last years show. Whole things subbed officially on YouTube!!! And tubi if you’re in the us (I am not)
I have really enjoyed this show. It’s been quite goofy, and lighthearted, especially since one of the main characters whole gimmick is he overreacts to everything and shouts a lot (which didn’t annoy me as much as I thought it would).
However, when your main character is an amnesiac who is also a giant alien from outer space thats just taken human form and doesn’t know the norms of society, there is a lot of humour to be found, and Sorato is a great protagonist for that! He doesn’t come off as too stupid or dense, and as the series goes on he does adapt with only a few slip ups before the final few eps, and you really get to like him!
The effects are great as always, and the toy aspect doesn’t feel too gimmicky. It is quite episodic, and its structure is a lil repetitive, but it’s great and I recommend!
Trying not to do a full review ramble here but ya it’s good I like
time for this years Ultraman Teo!!

They dropping kamen rider kuuga and ex-aid weekly on the Toei tokusatsu world channel!!!
I never finished kuuga (I mean to) but this is my chance to be annoying about ex-aid cause it was my second ever rider series. They’re doctors who are gamers!!! They take on video game bugs/bosses that are viruses that infect patients!! There’s a hell of a lot of drama and it’s just good fun.
And obviously My-th is currently airing but I only watched the first two eps lol

Yeah best thing about having these now is it’s so much easier to recommend because before it’s “yeah uh. Fansubs. Good luck
”
Toei can you clear distribution rights or whatever with hasbro so we start getting sentai and project red legally.
