Fun thing about the Eight Doctors is I actually read it in like 2 sittings. Partly because even when his writing isn’t great, Terry Dicks’ prose is always quick and readable. Partly because I kept reading faster and faster to get it over with…
And then the last EDA I read extremely fast was Mad Dogs and Englishmen, which I wish was 500 pages instead of 250! So much fun I didn’t want it to end. The duality of the EDAs!
Do we know if Big Finish have or can get the right to the EDA’s companions? I think it would be criminal if we never got a Audio Novel set then written by Kate Orman. Although I’m completely on board with her writing Charley, Lucie, Liv or Helen.
Yeah, but it has been more than fiftern years since The Company of Friends, so my guess is that the license to the character would’ve expired or something. I hope not, I need that Orman Audio Novel.
It’s BF, the Audio Novels in fact. She is also the writer on the upcoming one, that’ll be a Liz one. I’m glad to have her back as a who writer anyway, totally excited when I get to these two
So many new characters/races and concepts! It was really cool! Specially the Krotons, Trask and the Shift. Crazy about burying the dog and the Doctor’s own body! And Mictlan, that place was crazy and creepy!
Thank the books for that being the first time you met the Krotons because they will never be as cool as in Alien Bodies again. Ever.
In fact, that’s one of the most LOSER BEHAVIOR species in the whole whoniverse. Honestly it’s a miracle Miles made them so, so cool.
The rest of the things you cited are all original ideas tho. You started the War in Heaven! Be welcomed to the second proper Time War in Doctor Who history!
Wow! Okay, very cool! The 2nd Time War. Very interesting…
Also, if there are other things that I read, but might have not understood the significance of, please do not be afraid to mention it… It was a great book though!
