One thing to bear in mind is that when you say “staff” here, for quotes, it’s just shauny. Edits to things like tropes and location and duration and such shows up in a moderation queue for us, but quotes are separate, and can only be handled by him.

This isn’t to say I haven’t brought up the idea of giving us access to it before, because I’d be perfectly glad to fix up quotes in there and add them. Having just shauny do it has worked so far, though…

Yeah, I would’ve thought quotes would be something he’d want others to handle as I’m sure there are bigger fish to fry in running the site. But it’s all good .

Yes I want to let others help approve but haven’t been able to prioritise that at the moment, though I probably need to start prioritising things that give me less work to do

I’ve now added a “Review” step when submitting quotes, which shows how the quote will appear on the website so you can check it’s all inputted correctly

Noticed something odd in my submitted quotes. Loads of them have been incorrectly attributed to the wrong characters – and it’s aways the character who appears first in the list of characters for that story, ie. the Sixth Doctor for a Six audio, the Thirteenth for a Thirteen episode, Sarah Jane for a Sarah Jane Adventures, Romana II for Gallifrey etc.
It’s also affected a lot of my older quotes. So something must have changed at some point, because they were correct before.
I’m guessing just a bug somewhere but I’ll add a few screenshots to show you what I mean.

Edit: I’ve checked more quotes and it’s not just me! I would have been surprised if it had but still

Can regular/patron users create new tags for quotes, may I ask? That’s the way it works on Goodreads, and I must admit it seems like the best way to go about it - but I’ve not worked how to do it, if it’s possible on my end.

Not currently. I definitely can add that though, I guess my only fear is people adding multiple tags that mean the same thing so it becomes a bit of a mess, but I suppose that’s easily fixed.
I’ll add it to my list I am already planning to allow people to add things like directors, actors, etc!
In the meantime, just let me know any tags you want to add and I can add them for you to use!
(There will also eventually be a way to submit edits to quotes)

Sorry, Shauny, I’ve got a lot. Ordered by importance though!
- Romance (catch-all for smaller ships that don’t merit their own tags, e.g., Eight/Grace, Ten/Reinette)
- Doctor/Tardis
- Meta (“I do a lot of running”; “This is the real McCoy!”)
- Pacifism (“Never carry a gun. Causes my pockets to bulge.”)
- References or Allusions (“Open sesame”; “Well, it wasn’t Sonic the Hedgehog”)
- Bravery or Heroism (“Everyone else has passed them by. You think we should do the same?”)
- Queer (“If he was here right now, he’d be flirting with you.”)
- UNIT (“He’s on the payroll.” “I am?”)
- Inspiration, Fridge magnets, etc. (“Imagine the solution, and work to make it a reality.”)
- Plans
- Puns
- Retorts, Drags, etc. (“We can endure any privation that would drive a lesser race insane!” “Yes, you’re already insane.”; “People look to me as an arbiter of taste.” “In that dress?!”)
Also, it strikes me that 9Rose, TenRose, and Timepetals could all be merged into Doctor/Rose. I’d never actually heard of Timepetals until I saw the tag. Also, 9 is the only one represented with a numeral instead of spelled out.

If we’re adding more tags (a fantastic idea!) it would also be great to be able to edit quotes so we can add new tags to older quotes!
I know all of this is in the pipeline — it’s very exciting
