TV Club has reach the Series 3 opener, TV Club: Smith and Jones which introduced one of the modern series more popular alien species - the Judoon.
Almost immediately, they were reappearing in books, comics and audios as well as returning on TV in various cameos and then in the pivotal episode, Fugitive of the Judoon. They also, like the Slitheen before them, crossed over into the Sarah Jane Adventures.
What are your favourite Judoon episodes? Why are they so popular? What aspects of them would you like to see explored?
Apparently SJA: Prisoner of the Judoon is not a universally beloved episode??? Whatever. I reject this reality and live in the world where it’s one of my favourites and possessed SJ changed me fundamentally as a child
Without a doubt, my favourite Judoon story is Judoon In Chains. A really good Elephant Man flip that sticks to the recipe of Robert Shearman’s Dalek: Focus on just one alien and show how their species’ culture presents through them.
Sixth playing lawyer in Victorian England is fun too.
Fugitive of the Judoon or Judoon in Chains from the CDNM Set. The former has the Introduction of the great Jo Martin and is just a very enjoyable Episode (not a perfect one, but a fun one). The latter has a pretty great Concept and explores an Outcast of the Judoons, not to mention it’s a great Use of Sixie.
Looking through their Stories, they have surprisingly a lot of Stories, although I imagine a lot of those were just Cameos. Sadly my Exposure with main Judoon Stories is fairly limited, for example I still need to see their Outing in SJA, but I am looking forward to it. As a Concept they are pretty fun and for sure a kind of Alien from the Revival, where I wouldn’t be surprised if they turn up occasionally. Not to mention their Language has an entire dedicated thread here, which is one of the greatest Thing this Guide ever has!!
