Varada Sethu being in it is actually one reason I’m considering giving it a new chance. I’ve really grown to like her as an actress, so I’d be interested in seeing how she fares in a different role.

I haven’t been keeping up with Star Wars at all since The Rise of Skywalker several years ago. As someone who doesn’t have Disney Plus, is there any particularly good Star Wars media that’s released since then that is worth me experiencing (ideally which doesn’t require a lot of backstory - I’ve only seen the movies)? With it being May 4th, I’ve been in a bit of a Star Wars-y mood today for the first time in a long while.

I quite like The Mandalorian, plus there’s a film in the works for it too! S1 is a very fresh tale with no prior knowledge needed whatsoever. Following seasons do bring other elements into the fold, but I wasn’t hugely familiar with them and I followed just fine. The only thing to note is in between S2 and S3 there is The Book of Boba Fett series which is quite relevant to the understanding of The Mandalorian S3.

I’m going to reccomend Rogue One and Andor. They’re both brilliant, and require no prior knowledge of anything else (I haven’t been following anything else aside from the main movies, and I’ve been totally fine)

I finished it a while ago and it was a Masterpiece.

A clever, unique, creative Take on Star Wars, before the Holiday Special, Star Wars was just a dull Movie with no Depth to it. You are telling me Obi Wan is some sort of Space Wizard? THAT’S JUST SILLY! On the other hand, here we actually follow REAL Characters like Chewies Family, who might be my favorite Characters in all of Star Wars (after that silly blue Alien playing an Instrument on Tatooine of course). Having so many Minutes with them just speaking with each other is clever and shows that the Filmmakers were brave enough to actually explore them without having to translate them. The Variety Scenes are easily the Highlight, all feel fitting, clever and smart. This is exactly what Scorsese was talking 6 Years ago, this is true Cinema. Clever, new and all on TV Budget! I mean, Mark Hamill looks really comfortable being in this and not like an Auton at all! And Harrison Ford, I feel like this was so good, that he doesn’t care for any new Star Wars Entries as he should!

Everybody should watch it. It’s a Must-See!

You know, it wasn’t as bad as I thought, actually. Good? No. It’s a Fever Dream and drags on for way too long. The Wookies look creepy, and almost nobody seems to actually want to be there. But I have seen worst Films and read even worse Star Wars Media at this Point, so uhh yeah not great but at least it’s somewhat something, I will give it that!

Sweet jebus why are they dropping 3 episodes of Andor every week???

I absolutely adore Andor but it’s funny to me you mentioned this, because to me Cinta, Varada’s character, is the most underutilised and sidelined side character and one of the few disappointing aspects of the whole show. Don’t let that put you off continuing to watch though, I don’t even like Star Wars as a whole but I’m obsessed with Andor!!

I think it does work in it’s favour a lot of the time. I’ve heard that each batch of 3 episodes was originally supposed to be it’s own season, so Andor would go on a lot lot longer. So having them each distinctly compartmentalised can make the time jump between each batch more effective imo, like how this week the time jump meant that the difference in the treatment of the Ghormans and imperial presence on their planet was made very stark. It can feel hard to keep up with though, especially with Doctor Who and the Last of Us all dropping simultaneously and I’m trying to keep up with all 3!!
