The "Unapologetically Positive" Doctor Who Thread

I know some people had a lot of issues with Reality War, but I can’t bring myself to give it anything lower than 5 stars… it’s so cool…

And that’s why Doctor Who is so great. One person’s trash is another person’s treasure. It really is the show that has a story for everyone.

As always, @CommanderBayban, a meticulous and heartfelt argument in favour of a wonderful Doctor. He truly was, is, and ever will be, all those things and more.

The only other companion that I feel has reached the heights of tender affection seen between Six and Peri (and it’s a very different manifestation), was Evelyn Smythe. I recently relistened to The Marian Conspiracy. How wonderful it was. Oh, to travel in the TARDIS with Evelyn and Six. Mugs of cocoa. Chocolate cake. Adventures and debates. Pure joy!

Jackie Tyler is an icon in the series. She was the first domestic character from a companion’s family to feature as a regular in the show and she really helped to ground it. Those scenes in The Parting of the Ways work so well because you really believe in Jackie.

And I will ever love Jackie in the TARDIS in Army of Ghosts.

Also has some of the best lines.

Jackie: “I’m in my dressing gown.”
Nine: “Yes, you are.”
Jackie: “There’s a strange man in my bedroom.”
Nine: “Yes, there is.”
Jackie: “Well, anything could happen.”
Nine: “…No.”

“Prove it. Stitch this, mate!”

“Only, I don’t know, he’s an alien. For all I know, he eats grass and safety pins and things.”

Rose: “Where’d you get that (the truck) from?”
Jackie: “Rodrigo. He owes me a favour.”

“I’m gonna get killed by a Christmas Tree!”

“If we end up on Mars, I’m gonna kill you.”

The “strange man in my bedroom” exchange never gets old…

Brilliant character writing. Pitch perfect performance. Real. Tough as a lioness in defence of Rose. Vulnerable and lovely.
