A great story, but am I insane that the “prove your human” sepal (the same that played at the start) was such a blatant failure that I’m sure Chat GPT could give a better argument today. An adult human like Rose not knowing their birth year insanity alone. But the reasoning was such a clear logical statement that doesn’t actually understand any of the underlying information. And the rest of it wasn’t great either.
And yet, not only did a real person write that, but an editor (presumably) and at least Piper looked at it and went “seems reasonable”. Who needs some trick “only a human could tell me they couldn’t prove it (even though Chat GPT would probably actually point out it isn’t human if I asked)” when you have that!
Anyways I liked the “agent is a fitting name” joke. Full review here:
Finished this one last night, EXCELLENT! Tim X Atack’s fourth 9DA, and fourth banger, he’s proven to be one of the best writers for this Doctor that we have! Salvation Nine is my five star favorite, but Planet Of The End, Last Days Of The Powell Estate, and this are all 4.5/5 at least, very satisfying and clever and funny and imaginative stories with the main character(s) perfectly drawn. I loved how this was a hidden sequel, I really enjoyed the twists, thought the actors were great across the board. One of my favorites this series, for sure!
We just had an entire year of the Ninth Doctor trying to escape from Powell Estate, now we’re getting two more in a row ![]()
I mean I am looking forward to both releases, Mooney and Pringle writing horror is almost always a winner and of course you’d be insane not to be hyped for The Wash
The answer to the question “Who’s better: Pink Floyd or The Cure?” is absolutely Pink Floyd[1].
never mind that I no idea what The Cure sound like ↩︎
I quite enjoyed this. Interesting premise, fun adventure, and while I got spoiled on the central hook (I’m not complaining), I didn’t see the twist at the end coming. 5/5.
