Maybe that comes from jealousy of her husbandâs ex-wife?
First episode, loved it. While the amnesia trope is an overused one this was great fun. Ace & Tegan, both great together & River of course. Setting things up nicely for the rest of the box set.
Loved this part. Even more reason for me to love River.
Just finished the box - very much enjoyed the final scene. The whole last episode I wasnât following 100% but thatâs more because I was sewing than the audioâs fault. Enjoyed the whole box in fact, all the stories were very solid and Ace and Tegan are a brilliant pair
Canât wait to finish this at the weekend!!!
I finished it earlier. Absolutely great set overall, though I personally found Driftwood to be the weakest of the set! Even still, that was 3.5 stars, which I am sure speaks volumes on how great the other stories were in my view.
Drfitwood. A really fun story basically in real time. It could work as a standalone but has some tie-ins to the bigger arc. My only quibble was Ace, in this story she is supposed to be the young Ace that travels with the Doctor but comes across as an older version. Obviously Aldred canât help sounding older but its the way sheâs written. For me she doesnât feel like the delinquent adolescent I recall her being on telly. But thatâs a minor point as it doesnât really distract from the story.
Looking forward to what comes next. For some reason I thought there were only 3 stories in this release not 4
I had a good time with this one, but maybe not quite as good as I hoped.
By the very nature of the plot it ends in a timey wimey none of it happened kind of way
I do feel Ace & Tegan make a great duo. I hope we get more with them.
Really liked the third story, I love the dynamic Tegan has with River. Onto the final ep!
Just finished this.
I was a little disappointed, probably because I hyped it up so much in my mind.
I really liked the first and last stories but felt the middle two were a bit run-of-the-mill.
Some nice new River content though, and Ace and Tegan are great
For me I liked the 1st and 3rd the most but overall a fun set! Excited for S3!!! Debating if I want a S3 with Whoniverse elements or without.
Iâm just still so mad that itâs not all post-Library, I donât know why they did that for a bit then backtracked.
I think they just wanted to rebrand the series so that it wasnât daunting to new listeners being loads of series long! Theyâve done it with other ranges. I loved the post library set but kinda appreciate it being a one off imo!
Yeah, I havenât heard the previous boxset so was surprised to hear the same theme used as in Diary.
I mean itâs so good not to, I love this theme so much. One of my faves Id say.
I finally listened to the first story and it was a good introduction!
Give us an Ace and Tegan box set!
Castaways is an intriguing opener that sets up the dynamic between River, Ace, and Tegan while weaving a compelling mystery around their fragmented timelines. The Victorian ghost story premise is atmospheric, the performances are strong, and the timey-wimey elements add a layer of complexity that keeps things engaging. However, the story itself feels more like a prologue than a complete adventure, with a slow-burn plot that leaves many threads dangling for later resolution.
While the ghostly apparitions could have been explored more, the strength of Ace and Teganâs dynamicâand their interactions with Riverâkeeps things enjoyable. If nothing else, this story proves that Sophie Aldred and Janet Fielding absolutely deserve more Big Finish stories together. Now, onto the next piece of the puzzle!

You do know the name of the boxset youâre listening to, right?
Yes, but that is River Songâs set with them in it! I want a full-on spin-off for Ace and Tegan!
One without River Song!
