Seeing complaints on discord about AI artifacts and such for Ambassadors and Inferno. The images looked fine to me, the only problem I saw was when they posted clips of image warping in the background behind things that move in the foreground. Was curious if there were any other thoughts on it.
Dr Who has blue hands momentarily, but they’ve always had a tricky time of it trying to nail some of the colours on Season 7
I saw that image, zooming in it looks more just grey like the hands were missed rather than actually blue.
With the release of Season 7 on bluray, It got me curious, what do you guys think of these box sets, is the restoration good? Good value for money? What would you potentially change?
We have this thread
What are people’s overall thoughts on the updated special effects across the collections? For me it almost always takes me out of the story way more than ‘bad’ effects from the time do.
Boring answer but I think some have been good, and some have been crap.
I enjoy updated effects when they’re subtle, and when they make a valiant effort to be in-keeping with the look of the story.
I prefer them.
What’s the difference between the Limited and Standard editions?
The packaging, mainly. The standard editions come in regular blu-ray cases, with a shortened booklet. Discs and contents are the same.
What content is typically in the booklets?
(Sorry for the weird questions, I’m considering trying out The Collection)
Disc content breakdowns, along with production information from the time, synopses, promotional photos, etc.
The standard editions limit this to just disc content breakdowns. The limited editions have more information, but in fairness it’s mostly information that can be found online anyway.
If you search YouTube, there are some unboxing videos which will give you a more detailed look. eg:
I think the Collection sets are worth it, especially if you don’t already have them on DVD. The special features are great too, but if you already own the DVDs, the only major draw is the new special features.
tbh I very rarely read the booklets! I have a mix of release formats, some in the Limited Editions some in Standard. I know some fans will be shaking their heads at this lol
I double dip on occasion. I typically collect the standard editions, but if a season I love comes out and I can’t wait, I’ll grab the special edition first. Otherwise there’s about 18 months to wait and I’m impatient
I think it really depends. Sometimes I think they go too far and they stand out too much, other times they’re far more tasteful.
