Something I just thought I’d point out that I noticed while organizing my downloads.
All of Season 17 and Season 9’s episodes were, in fact, already uploaded individually, so the livestreams aren’t really adding any additional content so far.
Which does mean, if, like me, you have a script set up to download everything from the playlist using yt-dlp, which is pretty easy to do, you’re getting the episodes downloaded twice…
Incidentally, my general prediction would be that the next two livestreams will be seasons 15 and 25, not necessarily in that order. After that, there aren’t any seasons they could livestream without having episodes in them they haven’t posted. (Though seasons 2 and 20 are both one serial away from being fully posted, so maybe they’ll upload the missing serials from those and livestream the season. There are some seasons, like 3 and 13, that they haven’t posted any serials from…)
They have added all New Who seasons up until s12 to the free app Pluto. At least here in Sweden. It looks like it is only the regular seasons, not the specials.
Funny thing is that if I pull up Pluto’s website, what I’m seeing here is just classic Doctor Who, as well as K9…
I did come across a streaming website that does have new Doctor Who on it, but when their FAQ goes: “<redacted> is not technically a legal site”… yeah, not sharing that one.
I think they are added to YT after they’ve been on the iPlayer for a while. It is a BBC-produced show after all, so they’d want their audiences to see the episodes first. And they have the separate behind the scenes video on YT anyway.
