Star Trek: The Thread

For a second ever Trek thing, you certainly picked a good one. Khan is rather more action-heavy than a lot of Trek though, and I wouldn’t exactly call it a typical Trek story.

Excellent! Now you just need to watch III and IV…TOS, TNG, TAS, DS9, VOY…um, you’re nearly done(?) :vulcan_salute:

And I, V-XIII, ENT, DIS, PIC, LD, PRO, and SNW. Yes, referring to the TNG films and the Kelvin films as VII-XIII is cursed.

Oh, absolutely! I just didn’t want it to seem overwhelming…

It’s surprisingly not as much as one might think.

Back around 2009/10/11-ish, my daughter and I binged all the series, as we had them on DVD/Blu-ray.

I don’t know how I’ve never brought this up here. Has anyone seen Star Trek Continues?[1]

  1. Naturally I’ve seen the Colin and Nicola episodes ↩︎

Well shit, maybe I need to watch STC. Hear the guy who played Kirk in it is a bad 'un though.

Never watched Star Trek Continues. I vaguely remember watching a few episodes of Star Trek: New Voyages Phase II at one point. Mostly remember the Elvis hair…

Huh, I wonder who that is… *checks Wikipedia* Oh, for ■■■■’s sake.

I’ll never forgive him for what he and his minions did to my actual mother Monica Rial. NOR for thusly ruining the dub of Ouran High School Host Club, the first anime dub I ever watched, which he starred in (and for once, played perfectly).

On another topic, I just digitized a VHS of William Shatner’s Star Trek Memories, which despite the title is actually built on interviews with all of the main cast plus D.C. Fontana.

For what it’s worth, Star Trek: Phase II has a different actor for Kirk. Two, in fact, as they recast for the last two episodes, apparently.

Originally it was James Cawley, and he’s also the one behind the whole thing. And also an Elvis impersonator who still had his hair in Elvis mode early on for some of the filming.

That one’s also had notable guest stars like Walter Koenig, Grace Whitney, George Takei, Denise Crosby, and Eddie Paxley show up here and there. Always interesting how many actors and such turn up for these things…

Oh, and one of the episodes was written by DC Fontana…

I haven’t even seen any Star Trek since I was a kid! I’ll watch some of the real thing before I move on to fan productions.

I grew up on Voyager. When I was really little, I liked the theme music to TNG and my dad would dance to it with me on his shoulders, but I was too young to remember any of that. I do remember that I wouldn’t watch DS9 because the Ferengi scared me.

I actually have TOS on DVD (I swiped it when we weeded it at the library), but with four seasons of Who sitting unwatched on my shelves, and several movies and documentaries besides, it’s not a priority tbh.

Colin was pretty much relegated to a B-plot in his episode unfortunately. He mostly (only) appeared on the viewscreen, constantly hounding Kirk and his crew because they were focused more on the A-plot than his planet potentially being destroyed. They also gave him an outfit worse than Colin could ever imagine his DW costume would be lol.

Nicola was more present on her episodes—she has a two-parter playing the baddie.

He’s so enthused about it hahahah. Luckily it looks better in the actual show.
