I can’t just sit in a chair and listen to an audiobook, that’s when my mind wanders and I miss stuff. I have to be doing something like mowing lawn, doing dishes, yard work, house chores, driving, going for a walk, etc.
I prefer this over my phone. Better battery life, easier to start/stop (just reach down and press a button instead of pull out phone, tap side, then tap pause), no internet connection capabilities, and therefore no loss of connection in the middle of something.
All of my audiobook listening is done either washing up, other chores and principally walking to and from work. I get a lot more listened to during term time than holiday time.
This is what I have started doing as well, to help me focus. Usually chores or biking or commuting.
All sensible reasons! I’m just so used to using my phone for everything and don’t want to carry around yet another device, so I’ve never even considered using an MP3 player for listening.
