I hate how Thirteen haters don’t seem to care that there are actually people who really care about that era
I managed to get an entry together. I’m very pleased with myself. Actually managing to enter with what I think is a valid entry is an achievement.
As you should be. Best of luck to you!
Good luck. And well done for entering!
I just reached the end of this thread and went through it in one go and I just love it so much how the writers of the TG community came together in one place!
There are so many lovely ideas from the whole anthology and the writing club too! Gosh I am fanboying over you guys!
I wanted to submit something last year but I felt I was too unfamiliar with the concept of the Time War and Short Trips but this year I actually attempted to write something that I think is quite out of the box story… soooo I definitely won’t win it because it’s a bit experimental-
But oh well- I definitely want to write the story nonetheless I win or not because it was genuinely fun and I’m proud of what I managed to create. So if I don’t win I would love to contribute to the anthology with my story and (coincidentally) I started doing audiobook narration as a hobby for a friend. Just reading some of the Doctor Who New Series books, doing some silly voices and stuff so I can even do an audiobook version if needed.
And yes I submitted my entry today- though had difficulties with the synopsis to the point I rewrote it as a whole. Was I the only one who had difficulties with the word count?
Not even a little bit! Doing the synopsis was hard, I’m sonewhat of an over-explainer by nature
I struggled to cut it down. Doctor Who plots are rarely simple, even for short stories, so the 500 word limit was quite punishing.
The word count was an interesting limitation! I had to revise and rework my story a couple of times to make sure I could tell the whole plot in that word count. Very happy with how it came out, submitted it a few days ago!
I managed to get pretty close to the word count on both the synopsis and story and then naturally trimmed them down as I did redrafts.
I have a hard time summarizing and once I get to a certain word count I tend to give way too much away so writing 500 words was extremely tough. I haven’t submitted anything this year but I did last year.
Getting up to 500 words for the outline was tough for me, and it would probably lead me to write over 5000 words as is. For the excerpt, I knew where I wanted to start, so I wrote until I got to about 400 words, then wrote until the next natural stopping point.
Just submitted mine!
I felt like I’d regret not entering, so my idea that I started and gave up on last month I’ve finished and submitted!
Cutting it fine but hit submit on mine as well, my first entry since 2017. It being the Thirteenth Doctor was too much to miss.
Not massively happy with it, but that’s always the case with anything really, I never am. But, well, the deadline is tonight so, like @Jamie, I would have regretted it more not entering. To be honest, I like the idea enough that I’ll probably finish it regardless of how well it does. I really had fun writing the Thirteenth Doctor, she’s such a blast.
Best of luck to all those who entered! Here’s hoping for a TARDIS Guide Short Trip in the not-too-distant future!
Now, just the slow slow wait until July 18th… (and my birthday is the day before!)
also, I had the [email protected] email go to my junk folder automatically. If you’re looking for your confirmation email, check in there!
I just submitted mine lol. Cutting it fine here too, but I had done everything ages ago, it just took me a while with the formatting and layouts and double-checkingsss
But I’m happy with my idea lol, yay. Way better than my last year’s idea (and with better formatting).
Just submitted mine! Glad I’m not the only one doing it at the very last minute lol. Good luck to everyone!
Good luck to everyone! Here’s hoping for a TARDIS Guide Short Trip !
Having submitted, it’s like being unshackled. Can’t explain it well lol. But it’s the same as submitting an essay. Like yay it’s done but also yay I don’t have to worry about working on it anymore.
Looking forward to the choice between either doxxing myself, or not mentioning it on here at all ever, if I get picked
