So the Paris 2024 Olympic Games starts soon, and the opening ceremony is next Friday. I always prefer the opening ceremonies to the actual sports events themselves, because they can be so creative and give an interesting outlook on the host country.
I thought it would be fun to create a thread predicting what may be in next week’s opening ceremony.
My predictions would be:

There will be a heavy emphasis on food and drink. It’s what France are best known for, so it would seem like a no brainer.

There will be a reference to the Asterix comics. Probably one of the most famous French stories.

The Adventures Of TinTin will feature somehow. Iconic French stories, and would be weird if they weren’t included.

There will be some kind of reference or callback to Ratatouille. This one is more of a long shot, because it’s an American film, but it’s set in Paris, so there would be a certain logic to it.

A couple of costumed characters from Disneyland Paris will appear. This one is probably the least likely of my predictions, as Disney is obviously more of an American thing. However, Disneyland Paris is a hugely popular tourist destination, and is one of the most well known places in France.
