Can you alias the one name to the other, so that “Lux Imperator” and “Mr Ring-a-Ding”? resolve to the same page?
One other thing to bear in mind is that DWM 615 had a single page comic, “Mr Ring-a-Ding”, and while I haven’t read it, I’m assuming the character in that comic would be Mr. Ring-a-Ding and would not be Lux…
Yes we have that comic on the site and yes it’s Mr Ring-a-Ding!
A large part of the problem is just basically that it’s two characters, and most appearances are one character taking on the name, form, and personality of the other.
Oddly enough, if you read the Chakoteya transcript:
https://www.chakoteya.net/DoctorWho/41-2.html
It uses Mr. Ring-a-Ding as the name before the Doctor gets turned 2D, and Lux as the name after they escape.
Can we call Russell and ask him how it’s supposed to be? Surely someone must have his number?
I would like to read his script for the episode.
Especially since his scripts are always interesting to read.
I can do but would that mean I add two characters to the story page - RaD and Lux? And clicking either one goes to the same page; then what does it say on that page, RaD or Lux?
Seems a bit messy to me, I think to make it simpler we just have RaD.
It’s always possible further down the line that we might get instances of Lux that aren’t Mr. Ring-a-Ding.
The Mara isn’t always Tegan, after all… (And I’m kinda assuming Big Finish will want to use Lux.)
Well there’s probably at least 5 years until Big Finish has a licence for this era so will put a pin in it and come back to it
Maybe we could get a sequel to The Writer’s Tale once RTD2 finishes…
Here’s a (small-scale) conundrum. When it comes to Time Travel, does a story count as being set in the past if it’s set in Earth’s relative past, but on an alien planet?
For context I’ve just relistened to A Death in the Family (such a favourite; it just gets better with every relisten) and half the story is set on Pelachan close to the very, very start of the universe; billions of years before the Sun ever existed. Based off that it should be set in the past; but is that descriptor reserved for stories set in Earth’s past?
I’ve understood “past” here to mean any story set in the past from the viewpoint of when the story was written and released. So that would apply to any setting if it’s made clear that the story is set in the past.
Here’s another tiny thing: “Chameleon circuit still works” is in the Inventory and “Working Chameleon Circuit” is listed as a trope! Not relevant to ADitF but
Discovered earlier that almost all of the 9DAs and the Churchill Years are missing publisher info. At least some of the 9DAs are also missing directors
How is “Chameleon circuit still works” an inventory item?!
Also, if I remember correctly, the everlasting matches are under Inventory twice.
We didn’t add publishers or directors at the start, so loads of things are missing that info
It shouldn’t be.
Just to let you know, whilst it’s not ready yet, I’ve had a breakthrough of how to allow people to add their own entries in all the different fields - add actors, cover artists, directors, etc!
This will be really useful and save me (and you!) lots of time.
My only concern is if people misspell things or add someone who is already there on another name. Do we think this is a problem that I need to worry about? I actually think the time saved by letting you add stuff will overcome time spent on any minor edits of people adding stuff wrong.
Exciting! It will be a little while though.
No because we can also suggest to remove stuff
Sounds great, and it’s honestly something I’ve been waiting for! I don’t think misspelling is going to be a major problem.
