Movie time

Have you watched The Night Watch, and where does it fall? It’s been on my to-watch list for a long time.

Just finished a Jurassic Park/Jurassic World Marathon in preparation to going to see the new one later tonight.

Oh, I should really get back into watching movies! There are loads of new ones I still haven’t seen because I’ve been so swept up by this little British indie franchise known as Doccy Who.

Doccy Who, never heard of it. What’s it about?

I don’t think you’d like it. It’s this alien who lives in a blue shoebox and kidnaps young women and then goes around to other planets and harasses the local population in an effort to “save” them from imagined dangers. Quite an infuriating show, actually. Can’t recommend. 1/5.

Its a spin-off from this movie IIRC

Yes you should, after all you need to have a higher amount of movies seen this year over me, surely? /lh

Is that a challenge?! Because in that case, challenge accepted!

More Moviedrome today, The Great Silence. I love this bleak Spaghetti Western, awesome to see on the big screen.

Beautiful score from Morricone.

Watching Luther: Never Too Much, a documentary about Luther Vandross.

I haven’t watched many films recently, but the ones I have watched have all been music documentaries. The last one was Soul Power, about the Zaire 74 festival (put on to accompany the Muhammad Ali/Foreman match).

Still think Jurassic World Dominion is underrated. Seeing the original and new casts meet is so much fun.

Ennio Morricone may be the greatest film composer of al time!

Behind John Williams of course

Williams is superb, watch this if you haven’t already

But I prefer Morricone, more variety in his scores. John Barry also excellent.

I’ve watched it. It’s a great documentary. I just love Williams’ work, probably because he composed so many childhood favourites. His scores are among the few that I can just put on and listen to an entire soundtrack album from beginning to end because it’s so magical.

John Barry is a legend, but I’m not very familiar with his work outside Bond.

Morricone is someone I should listen to more. I only really know his music from the Sergio Leone films.

He’s very good at big sweeping scores

This is lovely

The Ipcress File, a spy who is basically the antithesis of Bond

Another cool one
