Introducing: Review Reader

We now have over 11,000 reviews! :exploding_head:

I’ve found there are three situations when I want to read reviews:

  1. If I’m looking to see if I might like a story, I’ll read non-spoiler reviews to try and see if I should try it.
  2. Straight after completing a story, I like to read all the reviews of it.
  3. I like to read new reviews of things that I have previously completed, as they appear on the site.

‘1’ and ‘2’ above are easy to do because you just visit the story page, but number ‘3’ above requires you to either go and check the story pages every now and then, or wade through the Reviews Page which is now massive!

So I’ve introduced a brand new feature to help you if you like to just sit back and read new reviews of things you’ve completed.

Review Reader is a page on the site (under “Reviews” in the navigation) which will update to always show you reviews that you have not yet read about stories which you have completed. It’s personalised!

Try it out and let me know what you think.

I have some ideas for future updates:

  • Maybe the option to filter out reviews that are a certain length
  • Maybe an option to only show your “favourite” stories here
  • Maybe an option to only show reviews here from people you ‘follow’

Let me know any ideas you have! Enjoy!

It’s the kind of thing I’ve wanted. Great for avoiding spoilers.

That’s great and will probably make me read a lot more reviews!

That’s an amazing Idea, I already love it!!

Seems very solid.
Since it gives more spotlight for the review to be seen by everyone, it may drive people to make even more reviews here on the platform

This is indeed a great feature! Love to be able to see easily which reviews I’ve yet to read.

I just liked my first review using the feature! I like your suggestions for future additions, and I’d also like to add an option to filter by story type and Doctor. I also considered sorting by rating, but I don’t know if some would find that objectionable (but I do recall your saying that one day the story pages would show who gave what rating for any given story, so if that’s still on the table, I don’t see a difference in adding it to both places).

I’ll be honest, (probably due to the cold) I was really confused by the original idea. But now that that I’ve given this a shot it’s great, thanks!
