What did you think of Stephen Cole’s book from the perspective of the old girl? I enjoyed it a lot and especially enjoyed some its canon explanations for certain lore bits and pieces.
Also, does anyone know when it will be added to this site?
@shauny can correct me, but I think because it’s more of a guide, it’s not currently on the list of things to be added. There’s plans for a non-fiction and guide focused expansion down the line, but the priority is adding stories
First, welcome to the forum! Nice to have you here!
When we discussed this book before it came out we thought that it probably was more of a guide than a story. But that might be wrong (I have not read it).
Yes I had assumed it was out-of-universe and so filed it under “Resources / Behind the Scenes stuff” that will be an entirely new section to the site in the future. Focussing just on in-universe fiction at the moment.
Thanks for the welcome! I’ve used the main site for a few months now and it such a great resource for a completionist whovian such as myself!
Having listened to the audiobook it could go either way. It’s formed of three alternating series of vignettes. The first follows a short story format where the personified Tardis talks broadly about incidents in the Doctor’s life. The next covers each individual story from the Tardis’ point of view. The final one is little profiles of each companion, again from the Tardis’ POV.
I agree that its kind of a reference book but its mostly made of in-universe accounts from a character (The Tardis) so the individual parts could be considered adaptions of different stories.
Having listened to the book myself, I’d say it exists in a grey area between an in-universe story and a reference work - @Ozy1985 explains it well (welcome to the forum by the way!).
I wouldn’t add it as a separate story, though, because it simply recounts every Doctor Who story from An Unearthly Child to The Giggle in a fun way - from the TARDIS’ point of view. It would be difficult to add as a variation because every story gets like a paragraph or two.
