How would you rank the War Master sets?

Ok with the caveat that, like sircarolyn, I haven’t listened to most of these in forever:

  1. Master of Callous - God this just rules from what I remember. Really messed up in all the right ways
  2. Killing Time - The overall arc is really solid, but it’s the middle two stories that push this so high for me
  3. Hearts of Darkness - I looooove this one overall and think it comes together great!
  4. Anti-Genesis - I remember enjoying this but never as much as other folks seem to? Needs a relisten
  5. Only the Good - Sky Man and Heavenly Paradigm are both great (Sky Man especially), but the first half of the set is just good and not incredible imo
  6. Rogue Encounters - Solid enough set but only Sublime Porte and Alone are particularly great, and the other two are just pretty good tbh
  7. Self-Defence - Fantastic final part on an otherwise just strong set
  8. Escape from Reality - The Sherlock Holmes story is an absolute favourite BF story of mine, but the rest of the set I found quite lacklustre
  9. Solitary Confinement - I think the final part isn’t particularly that good, and most of the set is just “good”. I love the Alexander Bennett story though
  10. Future Phantoms - Absolute disappointment of a set. I was bored by the first two stories, loved The Sitter (but not as much as my favourites from other sets), and only quite enjoyed the final story - though the set does come together well at the end
  11. Rage of the Time Lords - The only War Master set I remember just not enjoying, and honestly have zero intentions on revisiting. I just found it pretty standard DW in a range that before and after this go above and beyond, with a very disappointing ending

The fact that 10/11 of these I still really enjoyed and have highlight stories though goes to show just how strong The War Master range is!
