0-5. Earliest memory was crying during ‘Aliens of London’ where Toshiko is chasing after the Space Pig (I was terrified of the space pig). Now I just feel bad for it… Idk how old I was, but I had to rewatch 9’s era fully when I first got iPlayer because of those foggy toddler memories.
Same with my dad though, he started Doctor Who from birth through his parents who started watching the show and loved it since Hartnell.
I inherited my love of Doctor Who from my Dad as well. I was born a few days after episode 1 of The Armageddon Factor so I like to imagine that I was sat with my Dad watching episode 2. I’d have had no idea what was going on of course as I’d missed episode 1.
More realistically, I definitely remember watching bits and pieces of Season 20 when I was 4 and then The Five Doctors. And I haven’t stopped since!
I honestly have no idea how my parents found out about Doctor Who to get it for me and my brother to watch as kids. It has never been shown on TV here, as far as I’m aware, and there’s not really an older generation of fans as there is for franchises like Star Trek and Star Wars. All the people I know to have watched it would have heard about it online first, most likely.
I started watching Doctor Who in 2009. I was 14 at the time, I believe, and a local channel called CNBC-e aired the episode “The End of the World.” I was bewildered by the episode’s bizarre premise but also deeply intrigued. That same month, I binge-watched the entire series (Seasons 1-4). The fourth season had just concluded in the UK, and I was eagerly awaiting the 2009 specials.
I was bored during 2020 lockdown and was tired of rewatch Big Bang Theory again. And then I remembered that I heard something about Doctor Who and decided to give it a go.
My earliest memory is not being able to sleep and coming downstairs to my parents while Parting of the Ways was on the TV, I’d’ve been 3 at the time (I know I watched more around then as well, parents liking classic I watched that before the revival, but was young enough I dont’ remember it)
It had to have been 2006, when I was 5 years old for most of it. I live in America, and Series 1 and 2 were broadcast on SyFy (The Sci Fi Channel) that year.
I would’ve seen Series 3 right after it finished airing in the UK, and about only a month behind the UK for Series 4. The 2009 specials moved Doctor Who to BBC America, where by Series 6 I believe the episodes were aired alongside the UK. I watched on BBC America from then on, until the Disney+ deal.
I want to say my earliest memory was probably the werewolf in Tooth and Claw! It scared the heck out of me!
I know I loved the show since I started seeing it. I remember I was obsessed with The Sound of Drums as a kid. I re-watched the series 3 finale tons of times, I had it recorded on my DVR!
Memory’s getting fuzzy, even more so than before - but I remember I was 12 when I started watching Doctor Who.
I don’t exactly remember my first episode, it could’ve been: Dalek, The Empty Child or Blink.
I was 26, at uni and in need of some procrastination in form of a new fandom.
It was basically a coin toss between Doctor Who and Star Trek - there was only room for one (still is). But Doctor Who won out in the end because I love time travel stories
I am very glad I made the right choice back then
I choose to believe that we would have had a Scandi Super Club anyway. You see, in that other timeline where @BillFiler chose Star Trek, we chose that as well, and @shauny started this awesome site called Star Trek Guide with a forum where we all met. And there we would have wondered what would have happened if we had chosen Doctor Who instead.
