Hi all (and (nearly) happy 2025)

So, another self-intro post - I found this site searching for reviews of Big Finish audio dramas, and it seems like an active forum with plenty of interesting discussions to read, so I thought I’d sign up

I’ve fallen behind on watching NuWho since season 11, not because I don’t like Jodie Whittaker (although I did think Capaldi was superb and was sad to see him go), but just from lack of time to sit down and watch TV - I plan to catch up eventually. I recently discovered Big Finish and started listening to the monthly series while doing exercise - I find them perfect and much better than audiobooks as I’m not really a fan of listening to narrated stories, plus they’re short enough that I go through them in a couple of runs so that I don’t mind persevering even with a bad one, whereas an 8 hour+ audiobook can be painful if it starts to drag…

Anyway this reignited my childhood love for Doctor Who, although I’m too young to see the classic series when it was originally broadcast I have fond memories of the BBC re-screening selected stories during the 90s, and in between episodes I hunted down Target novelizations in second hand bookshops and libraries - it was always random which ones I could find so I’m used to jumping between doctors and companions - another reason why I like the BF main series at the moment!

Welcome! It seems like the Audio category is for you. You’ll also probably love the Audio Club where we’ve been working our way through the Monthly Adventures with a new thread every Friday. We’re currently on Omega (MR#47), but there’s no time limit so feel free to go back and comment on any or all of the previous ones. We also have (in the same category) Audio Club Extra where we look at non-Monthly Adventures. We did the Excelis saga earlier this fall and are currently working through the first three seasons of Gallifrey (3.2 just dropped today). Glad you’re enjoying it here, feel free to poke around to your heart’s content. Commenting’s encouraged, but lurking is fine too.

Welcome! You have plenty to look forward to on the TV front! And it’s fun to have another fan of the audios join the forum - Doctor Who would be a much emptier space without those monthlies. Yes, even without the bad ones!

Thank you all and @lwebb no questions yet, it seems like a great site so far, certainly a lot to read
@DarthGallifrey Excelis is next on my playlist, I’m trying to fit in some of the “one off” specials in between the monthlies in rough publishing sequence so I’ll check out that thread when I’m done!
