Tbh I would never recommend the Classic era for an introduction to Who. Unless they are familiar with old British telly I tihnk the conventions of the times would be offputting. Rose or The Eleventh Hour would be my suggestions. But if you have to go classic maybe something from the Tom Baker era? The Ark in Space.

The surprising part is, of course, not the he part. Rather, who in their right mind would turn down watching Doctor Who? Not cool.

Controversially, I often use Heaven Sent for non-fans as an entry point. This is mostly with cynical types that think it’s just kiddy nonsense, and it honestly nearly always goes well.

I can see that actually. Particularly if it’s not a ‘jumping on’ point to watch in order, more just an example of different things the show can be.

Obviously I’m playing to the crowd as I know it’s a fan favourite at this point, but the fact it has interesting sci-fi and incredible acting goes a long way. The twist is always rewarding to new watchers.
Jumping points are always The Eleventh Hour or Rose as far as recommending those go though. I just cringe a little whenever Prisoner Zero makes an appearance because it hadn’t aged well from the day it debuted.

Technically the one thing I did make him watch was Dimensions in Time. (we were showing each other so bad its good tv) That’s probably why
