I don’t like how you blame my ally for burning down the house when it’s the crazy Viking from that little country between Sweden and Germany that has been all over the news this week we should worry about!

Between Sweden and Germany?
What could you be talking about?
Not gonna be joining in this game cause honestly I need a break, but I want to share my two cents - Legend of Ruby Sunday is a fantastic episode. All of the letdown happens in Empire of Death and even so way back when the season was airing I thought - and it’s still true, I think - it could work if it was a three-part finale and we had some room to breath and the characters mourn in an imaginary part two.
Shockingly, this time around Delta and I would be on the same side - 73 Yards is my favorite so far too
At TARDIS Guide we’re all on the same side .
Completely agree, I loved it on first watch, second watch, third watch, fourth watch…
I know it gets a lot of love but I genuinely can’t see why. Empire of Death sucks but I was let down right from the off in Legend of Ruby Sunday too.
Yeah I absolutely love Legend of Ruby Sunday. I think it’s just a stellar piece of suspense and character drama. Shame that Empire of Death ruins it for me!
I’m on the “didn’t like Legend from the beginning” side. I don’t like this new UNIT, there were too many unnecessarily new characters and too many characters that were there for no reason (what is 15 year old Rose Nobel doing in a military installation?) and trying to solve both the mystery of Ruby’s biomum and of Susan Twist was too much, especially given how much breathing room there was in Empire of Death. I usually like breathing room, and as a sort of standalone thing I prefer Empire of Death, but when put together…no. I think one of the mysteries should have been left for the second season, which they knew they were getting from the start so I really don’t understand why they didn’t do it.
Unfortunately this is just not viable in an 8-episode series, and frankly I would have greatly disliked spending any more time in this terrible finale than we already did. I think the pacing in both parts was weird, and it’s probably because RTD wanted the cliffhanger to be the Sutekh reveal, which just doesn’t fit neatly in the middle.
But that’s just my opinion, and if you enjoyed it, more power to you.
I really like the characters, so there is that. I don’t mind UNIT having so many characters, for me it helps it feel like an actual organization and not just a group of two to three regulars fighting aliens. I only missed Shirley, would swap Rose’s role here for her.
Mel is a huge plus for me, I strongly like how RTD is handling bringing her back, and I just enjoy her scenes. The thing about the mystery around Ruby’s mom is that RTD knew it wasn’t going anywhere and as insulting and lazy I think he was with that, I prefer to get it over here than waste another season on a pointless plot. For me it works better in Legend because the focus is on Ruby’s feelings about her bio mom, being left behind and there is a strong suspense at play. It all comes crashing down in Legend when you realise oooooh he was just trying to bait the audience. Which is also why I roll my eyes everytime Ms Flood is on the screen.
To be clear, I don’t think Ruby’s feeling about being adopted or towards her bio mom are pointless or worthless plot, what I don’t like is RTD trying to make a mystery box of what would work better as a honest and direct plot.
Mixed feelings on Sutekh but I felt it was better handled in part one than two. And yeah, I know there is no room for a three parter in the current format, I just felt I would work better as one.
People like to dog on RTD2 but one thing I really like about this era is every story has a lot of substance and run time to work with. Even stories I didn’t connect with, which is really only Boom, Rogue, and Space Babies, have their fans. I have a lot of positives to say for everything eliminated so far.
Except for Empire of Death. It has some cool moments but I don’t know if anyone wasn’t a little let down by that one.
So many I want to downvote. Silly rules.

Sitting there on (1) for so long and willing away the next 18 hours so I can pounce isn’t the first time Legend of Ruby Sunday has ruined my day
