Other episodes have some of those issues for sure, but I think few have that many of them all together and to the extent of LOTSD.

Oh and yes, Sleep No More is that bad. It makes my bottom 1.

That sea monster was maybe 100 times larger than a Myrka though…
Could have been a wee little baby Myrka we saw in Warriors of the Deep :thinking:

I assume they can vary in size, or yeah, maybe the one in Warriors of the Deep was a young one. Don’t see why a different size would exclude it from Myrkahood.

While I do agree it’s far from the worst, at times it can be quite frustrating for me. Considering how much I like Historicals in that Era (it’s usually the most consistent type of stories which that Era nails down) and looking at all of it with a return of classic Monster (with such a great modern redesign) and an interesting historical figure (Madam Qing) it promises quite a lot and yet.. it feels super unremarkable. There are great parts to it, but I feel like (for me at least) it had so much potential which wasn’t used properly and that is at times more frustrated than just an outright awful Story. Not sure if it would landed in my bottom 20 for televised Who Stories, but I don’t think it’s one I would rate highly at all.

As for why it might be so widely hated nowadays: It being between EotD and TPotD probably has something to do with it, two mostly well-liked Episodes for many would be one of my guess.
Glad you personally enjoy it tho!

Legend of the Sea Devils is just one of those rare cases where I get to the credits and my first thought was “well that wasn’t good was it?” Usually the fact that there’s new Doctor Who is enough to overcome that, but not here. It didn’t improve on rewatches, maybe got worse for me if I’m being honest.

I like the rule of cool for this. A giant enormous Myrka is SO SO COOL so it’s allowed.

Plus the Myrka in Warriors of the Deep is ugly. Very very ugly.
