With the 20 hour limit on the Elimination Games I thought it might be useful to have a separate thread where we can all express our anger and frustration that our darlings have been eliminated.
And yes, I was prompted to start this thread because someone (@NobodyNo-One ) cruelly eliminated the Ironside Dalek!
Even though I never voted Ironside down, I do think it’s a pretty lazy take on what could have been a cool idea. A ramshackle Dalek plausibly made by England in WWII could have been more interesting than this. Meanwhile there are SO many bland designs I do think they aren’t being eliminated just from the volume of choices.
I don’t think it was that lazy - loved the little Union Flag, the supply packs on the midriff and the blackout covers on the headlights. I also like the green for some reason.
I’m no fan of soldiers or the military aesthetic - just liked them here. But it’s okay. You’re forgiven. I won’t add you to the ‘Downvoted the Kandyman’ hitlist…
Fair point - but then they did have the big guns waiting in the wings to come and revolutionise the Daleks, wow the audience and create a new era of Dalek design celebrated throughout fandom…
One thing I did enjoy about this latest Elimination Game is that it prompted me to watch Daleks! The story was alright but the design of the Emperor, Strategist, and Executioner were all unique and pretty well done IMO. Each have design choices inform a bit about their characters which is pretty rare for any Dalek. I’m a fan of them now!
Calling them Yellow Ranger Dalek, Red Ranger Dalek, Black Ranger Dalek etc etc every few second is the only enjoyable part of Victory of the Daleks for me, so I am grateful
I have mixed feelings on the cabeçudos (had to express myself in Portuguese here to truly express my feelings) (it just mean big heads) but eh at least they were trying something different
At first glance the big head looks a little silly but in action I think it’s my favourite take on the Emperor. It feels like a natural progression of their design compared to something like the spider-legs.
There is a REALLY good design in the DWM comics, sadly they don’t appear much in their own story but it’s enough to leave me waiting for more.
The Cybermen have a somewhat extremer variaty, even if they are fewer, so it could be fun to do them sometime. The design from The Flood is a must to that one.
