Free For All Chat Thread (Part 2)

Worth noting that for the site, it’s considered ‘Beyond the Whoniverse’, because it’s so loosely connected, and originated as it’s own range before the crossover

Good lord what a year these last two months have been. I was gone so long the chat thread regenerated. Anyway I haven’t dropped off the face of the earth and I have missed TARDIS Guide and talking about Doctor Who! Anything big happen while I was gone?

So flashback to like, idk four or five months ago, I looked at the number of courses I need to take over the next two semesters in order to graduate and go “no way in hell I can take that many courses in a semester,” so I decided to take summer classes. This means basically doing the work of a three month course in a one month period. Then I decided it would be really smart to take two of those at the same time, and also do an internship, and then my cat got incredibly sick. My sleep schedule has been absolutely wrecked. My mom is remodeling a house, so I’ve been volunteering to watch the dog since it’s too dangerous for him to go over there and he can’t really be left alone long. But she lives in a different state than any of my friends, so I’ve basically been cooped up in a house alone working crazy hours and feeling too “bleh” during my downtime to do much of anything. But my classes finally ended and as of this afternoon I am FREE from my internship!

For anyone missing The Fan Show, they’ve basically rebooted it. We now have “The Whoniverse Show” for news, updates and seemingly half an hour of waffle about faff because BBC Studios need to push out some ahem content.

Very amusing that we now have a sort of ‘news’ show in a period of time where the main show is … not around, and the ephemera around merchandise is picked up on by fans instantly anyway since everything is posted online.

I was on TARDIS wiki and then ended up on the fanlore page for rec.arts.drwho where I found this page of frequently appearing threads in that usenet group. Its really interesting to see what kind of things the fans were discussing back then and that its mostly still the same stuff now :joy: there is other stuff that I don’t see getting discussed anymore there too, like ‘the NAs aren’t canon’
I also found this website with some more interesting and funny stuff. 12 types of Doctor Who fans made me laugh.
The people here who were fans in the 90s probably know more about this, but as someone who wasn’t I find it really cool!

  1. The “Colin baker” fans - you may like any or all of the Doctors but you are also a big Colin baker fan. Other fans mock you and suspect you wear tacky coats and kitty pens in private. No one understands you love of The Trial of a Time Lord and almost all of Season 22, slowly you try to show that Peri was a good companion with the 6th Doctor but no one believes you, everyday you feel persecuted by other people and like someone had shoved a camera in your face and cued tacky casio FM sting music.

-Tugs at collar- Er… :eyes:

I’m definitely 3/4/5.

“The female fan. A very rare species” — some things change — “especially if heterosexual” — some things don’t.

I was literally going to tag you! At least you know you’re not alone?

  1. The Hartnell Fans - No one cares about them, so ultimately the
safest fans, they watch the original stories, have a few audios,
a few telesnaps, they’ve read the Plotters and Venusian Lullaby,
maybe a few more, over all their fandom is harmless except for
finding themselves urgung to say “My Boy”, “Hmm”, and they
    can’t keep a sentence straight.

@RandomJoke hmmm, what do you think, my boy? :face_with_monocle:
