I predicted Australia would win! Portugal 2nd is a surprise, and Sweden 3rd is nice!

I will share my Top 10 tomorrow as well as my prediction of the qualifiers from emi 1

How exciting! Tomorrow’s the first big day, and I’m excited to sit down in front of the TV and watch some Eurovision again! We’ll just be enjoying the show since we can’t vote tomorrow, but our hearts are with our brethren in Sweden, Norway, Iceland, and Estonia!

So, here’s my Top 37 this year! My number 1 is hardly a surprise. I seem to prefer fun songs this year. Two Scandinavian countries are outside the Top 10, with Denmark at #11. I’m also into Azerbaijan and Ukraine more than most. And my UK friends are happy to know that you’re in my Top 10 this year!

These are based on general vibes of the studio version. The live performance ranking might look different.

I used the Europarty app, where you can rank the songs by pitting them against each other in duels and choosing the one song you prefer in each duel.

1-10

11-20

21-30

31-37

Predictions coming later; they’re tough this year!

Latvia last??? It’s exactly the music I’d expect to hear as you’re being sacrificed in the woods

I know my wife is excited for the first semi-final tonight. She’s been listening to the songs for weeks now.

Yeah, I’ve listened to it a couple of times and I just don’t get it. Maybe it needs the visual element.

Here’s my prediction of the qualifiers tonight. This is the stronger semifinal in my opinion and the easier to predict. I’m pretty certain about at least 7 of these.

Ukraine and San Marino could be potential NQs.

Iceland and Slovenia are possible Qs. Azerbaijan is also one to look out for!

Happy Eurovision night, everyone!

The Portuguese entry has grown on me massively

What a fun semi! Slick, enjoyable. My boys in KAJ delivered from the big sausage to the slightly altered choreography. It still feels bizarre to see them on such a big international stage.

Really liked Hazel as host too.

I predicted 8/10 qualifiers right! Pretty standard for me!

I should’ve believed in Iceland, but from the reports I heard, they didn’t seem confident enough. Happy to be wrong, though, because I love the song.

Belgium was a favourite in the odds, so it was something of a shock, NQ! And Portugal - it’s a grower, so I can see why it went through.

Anyway, bring on Thursday! Go, Erika! Wir kommen!

Wife is upset Azerbajan and Belgium didn’t get through. I liked Slovenia too, so that was a shame. I’m never keen on the ‘screechy ballads’ as I like to call them so there’s a few there I don’t particular like (but then I didn’t like Sweden’s last winner so what do I know).

I also liked Slovenia, but I knew it would have a hard time qualifying.

But I’m sure you love Sweden’s upcoming winner

Yeah, I did actually - but I’ll actually need to hear the rest of the finalists to see who I actually want to win. I’ve not even heard the UK song yet.

Sure you have. On Radio 2’s B-list on any given day circa 2016.
