I think we can agree on this as a forum consensus.
Is Anita’s actor pregnant irl? I assumed it was written in for that reason, because it’s just so pointless otherwise.

On further reflection I actually think Poppy being Belinda’s daughter hinders her arc, like why can’t we just have a companion that just wants to get home, no magic sci fi reason needed

It also completely fails to reconcile Poppy’s existence with Space Babies, unlike the mid-episode explanation that she was born out of the Doctor and Belinda’s ideas like Athena.
