I didnt like this episode, but the bafflement (and the brief excitement at time lords being sterile) exhausted my emotions within the first thirty minutes and so I didnt hate it either. I might on a rewatch

To be clear, my issue isnāt with Billie Piper herself. It just seems to me like a stunt casting that shows Doctor Who doesnāt have confidence in itself anymore. The feeling that it thinks it needs to do stuff like this to even have people watch anymore. It almost feels insulting, to be frank. And it also is just pulling from the same people more, making things feel small and insular when Iād like Doctor Who to grow, get more new people involved. Itās a choice that really bothers me.

One thousand percent agree. Unfortunately Iām a Billie stan and am willing to overlook all of that for her.
If it were Catherine Tate (who I also adore) or Jenna Coleman (who I like and think is an excellent actor), Iād have my pitchfork and torch at the ready.[1]
Iād have made an exception for Freema or Pearl or Mandip on the basis of getting a numbered (?) WOC Doctor. ā©ļø

I had one part that I did not like: the part with the Unit tower and the bone stuff. If I wanted to watch that type of thing, I would watch a Marvel movie.

I feel like the original ending couldāve been Poppy magically growing up, part Time Lord, and her becoming the next companion, alongside 15, tying more into the whole family/Susan/Time Lord stuff. Pure speculation but I could imagine that, before rewrites and Ncuti leaving.

Unfortunately, this was my exact thought too. I think the proverbial cloister bell couldnāt really be ringing louder at this point, which is a real shame, because up until Wish World this has been the best series in a while. I donāt think thereās any other way to take yet another stunt casting though, especially given as far as we know, thereās still no word on when another season is happening. I know thereās the Mirror article, but Iām not sure I put as much stock in that as other people have - will leave that discussion for another thread though
