That was the weirdest hour of television Iāve ever watched 
I couldnāt even tell you if I liked it or disliked it (Iām leaning towards the latter unfortunately), but I think it absolutely represents RTD finally eating his own tail. This was just a mess from start to finish, and regardless of how I end up rating it, it has confirmed for me that I donāt want another series from this creative team - please give someone else a go now. I can just about accept Billie as Sixteen (although I hate that weāre going back to the 2005 cast well again), but I donāt need any more episodes written by RTD. Heās done tons for the show, written some fantastic stuff, and for that Iāll always appreciate him, but I donāt want him in the showrunner position.
I am very happy for @DontBlink, @thirteenswife and @ProfessorSummerfield though, who Iām sure for no particular reason will absolutely love this episode

Speculation: S3 is written with Gatwa in mind, to round off the era. RTD then gets Gatwaās notice, wanting to leave. He needs someone to step in temporarily to bridge a gap before the next Doctor, in pops Billie for a special / for a laugh.

Absolutely, I fully agree sheāll make a fantastic Doctor! Likewise, Iām not convinced sheāll stick around for very long though. I think for me, I would just much rather we werenāt going back to RTD1 again!
