It is a pretty quick read.
Yeah, it’s a short book and the prose is very readable. Didn’t take me very long either.
I probably will…
I’m really hesitant about buying Dying Hours.
I need it to finish Doom’s Day, but it’s £35, the most expensive installment of Doom’s Day and I don’t know if it’s worth it or not. Especially as I’m trying to complete 13 at the same time.
It is the best part of the event.
I read through Four Hours of Doom’s Day last night.
I’m not sure any of those stories were 1 hour, and I’m not sure any of those stories were good. I thought that I’d be ready for anything after the comic creator stories from TLV, and yet I find myself immensely disappointed.
Apparently I’m doing Doom’s Day now.
Not a fan of the Titan comic. Missy was fun, but the story felt a bit dull, and ran out of steam in the second issue. Better than the DWM comics at least.
The First of the Lost In Time stories was available in the game last week, and it’s not very good. The idea of it is cool, but the nature of the game and its’ subpar cutscenes really lets it down.
I would say that the audio parts of the whole thing are the far better part of it. £35’s hefty, of course, but it’s definitely a decent experience.
Really, the problem for this whole conceit was that the audios and the novel didn’t come first. You needed to have a long-form sense of this new character out there for anyone to properly care about them - no matter what gender you casted it & whether you went for a known name or not.
The audio aspects are definitely what I’d recommend you most.
Yep, we’ve brought this up previously. We’re halfway through the event before we get to know Doom properly, let alone hear Sooz in the role. They should’ve placed the audios earlier.
Didn’t realise the audiobooks were only 30 minutes, generally I avoid audiobooks as I prefer audiodramas (I struggle with narration). Coupled with the fact they’re usually a lot longer, but 30 minutes I can probably manage. Always bothered me I tried to do everything with Dooms Day (as TLV I fell off near the end) so maybe I’ll try get these.
I also… would love a badge
I caved, and listened to the first Doom’s Day audiobook, I really enjoyed it!! In general I found the whole Dooms Day to be a bit of a mixed bag. I think I agree with what @Tian said in an earlier post that, had we had an audio or two at the start rather than all at the end, it would’ve made all the difference.
I’ll definitely finish the other stories soon, seeing as they’re short, and try move onto the book. Its a shame I’ve done everything out of order, but its nice filling the gaps in.
I like, as I said earlier, Dooms Day learned from TLV. They even made some more free elements compared to TLV, as that was one big complaint I saw (I mean they have to fund it somehow though). Here’s hoping they take some lessons from this to the third (if we get one) multimedia event.
Started reading Extraction Point last night, hopefully will manage to get through it. I was such an avid reader when I was a kid but now I’m really lacking in attention span to commit However… I want that badge…
So I’m halfway through, I’ve read the first two ‘hours’ in this book. I’m a bit unsure on this, I kind of thought the real meat and bones for this series would be in the book, but while fun and good, it doesn’t have a lot of impact. I think ultimately, the concept of the series is really good, and its a lot less intense than TLV, but I’m still unsure of it. I really like Doom, but the whole ambiguity on who the Doctor is she met originally felt a bit odd? Im enjoying the book, granted. I think its altogether a nice arc, and hopefully if they do another I’ll be able to finally do one in the proper order
Okay! I’ve finished the audiobooks. Ngl, 30 minute format with 3 great readers really made me enjoy audiobooks… I’m more an audiodrama person but this really makes me wanna try more audiobooks now!
I just have the book left, I’ve done this so backwards I tried to keep up, but originally I did everything bar the book & audiobooks cause I wasn’t as interested, but @shauny had to go and tempt me with a badge… So, almost done! The series is alright and I’m shocked to learn above earlier in the thread about how Sooz was treated. I agree with other posters that they should’ve led with the audios at the front end.
Then I’ll finish up my TLV loose ends, which there’s more of.
I have finished!!!
Review of my final part below, which was the mid-point of the actual event Ultimately, it wasn’t terrible! Can’t wait for the badge to come through. Onto TLV’s final parts…
