Doctor Who Post-RTD

That films vibe is what I want for the Eurovision episode of Who, but with Sci-fi!

Yes, it’s very much the same here. I wouldn’t even say it holds up to scrutiny less than many other Doctor Who stories. The weirdness of it all was the main reason I liked it. For example, The Grand Serpent, for all his build-up and malevolence, got a very low-key finale - but I didn’t mind that. There was so much else going on (come on, Big Finish, bring him back soon!) that there was hardly time to ‘mourn’ him.

I know I’ve said it before (and doubtless will again), but Flux is Chris Chibnall’s finest hour in my view, and one of the finest runs in all of Doctor Who!

Sorry, this is off-topic. But I will say that if the old show has a future post RTD, then I agree with those who say there are worse ways to do it than Flux-like epics.
