Yes, we are soulmates
From January 2016 - 2021, I watched all the Doctor Who episodes in order, one part a day (+special features), and scored them all out of ten. It’s all in a giant Excel file, including the spin-offs. I just recently added a column for the word count of all the Target novelisations (as if anyone cares). I’ve been working on a huge script that explains the scores, as a big video. Based on current progress, it’ll be ready about half an hour before the heat death of the universe so put that in your calendar.
My Seventh doctor ranking (sorry @deltaandthebannermen)
Silver Nemesis last place??
I don’t enjoy it, too many spinning plates
Here’s mine for Seven apparently. Judging more by ‘would I rather watch this’ than whether its even subjectively better. I really like the first 11
ranking
- Remembrance of the Daleks
- Survival
- The Curse of Fenric
- The Greatest Show in the Galaxy
- Battlefield
- Paradise Towers
- The Happiness Patrol
- Silver Nemesis
- Time and the Rani
- Dragonfire
- Ghost Light
- Delta and the Bannermen
Right, @NyssaTheNerd and @snakesontoast, we need to talk…
There are consequences for bad takes…
What you’ll force us to watch it on loop?
this is what the revealer said to me but honestly I think I’d not put them in this order if I were asked - I’d reverse the order of Greatest Show, Time and the Rani, and Delta
This sort of this isn’t great at accurately showing my opinions, cause sometimes I like A more than B and B more than C but not A more than C
I’m not sure how if you like A more than B and B more than C that it isn’t inherently A more than C. That’s the transitive property. It’s impossible to not like A more than C at that point.
Here’s how mine for 15 turned out. Pretty damn accurate, this is an interesting way of ranking things.
- 73 Yards
- Boom
- Dot and Bubble
- Lux
- The Story & the Engine
- Rogue
- Lucky Day
- The Devil’s Chord
- The Well
- The Church on Ruby Road
- The Interstellar Song Contest
- Joy to the World
- The Legend of Ruby Sunday / Empire of Death
- The Robot Revolution
- Space Babies
- Wish World / The Reality War
It should be as accurate as you are with answering. So if you answer honestly, according to your own thoughts, it should line up well.
These sorts of ranking engines are becoming more popular. They are effective and simple ways to rank things, but they only work if you answer honestly each time, according to what you truly prefer.
This way is how I rank all Eurovision songs every year, for instance.
Humans are full of contradictions and don’t always follow logic
Insert that one Four quote from Destiny of the Daleks
Or that Fourteen quote from Wild Blue Yonder about believing two contrasting things at the same time!
Sounds more like A, B, and C are just too close to decide more than an actual mathematical impossibility.
It’s more that what I’m qualities I’m ranking it on depends on what I’m ranking. Maybe if I had set criteria I had to abide by I’d do it more accurately
That’s the other factor, if you’re inconsistent with the way in which you rank them, this kind of algorithm can’t work. For me which one is better is pretty cut and dry, I’ll always like one more than another, even if the amount by which I do is small.
