I was thinking earlier about how Lux kind of feels like a Ghostbusters movie. You could imagine the cold open of Mr Ring-A-Ding coming out of the screen as the beginning of a Ghostbusters film before it transitions into that iconic Ray Parker Jr song.
And that made me think Doctor Who and Ghostbusters are actually quite similar. Both follow protagonists where at least one of them is a scientist, and who are driven by their own curiosity. They enjoy investigating mysteries, which tend to be quite quirky and outlandish.
The only major difference is that the Ghostbusters hunt ghosts whereas the Doctor and their companion solve extraterrestrial goings-on. Even then, the Doctor has also dealt with ghosts a few times.
And like the Doctor, the Ghostbusters’ methods tend to be humane. They prefer to trap rather than kill the ghosts (probably why the Doctor loves quoting Ghostbusters so much).

Such a fun scene. 10 and Rose’s energy was infectious at times.

Fun? Err ok. For me its one of if not the worst scene ever in Doctor Who. 100% cringe.

Yeh, that scene is one of the first things that come to mind when I think of Ten, Rose and their smugness.
I roll my eyes every time I watch that scene

I think there are definitely some strong Similarities, but I wouldn’t go as far to connect those Dots. The Ghostbusters are much more centric on Ghosts or Demons, while the Doctor and their Companions usually fight against all kind of Things.
As far as Ghostbusters Scenes goes in Doctor Who:
I hate the TenRose one, it works if you are into their Relationship, but I am just not.
The Hide Scene is far from perfect, but hey it feels more fitting for said Episode and feels much more reversed, which I prefer personally speaking. (I do like the Ray Paker Song, it’s very catchy, just feels a bit too much if you sing most of it for a Scene in any kind of other Film/Show).

That’s true. It was more spurred by my thinking that you could imagine the pre-titles sequence to Lux with Mr Ring-A-Ding coming out of the cinema screen transitioning into the opening of a Ghostbusters movie.
