So like, why do we keep deciding what other people do instead of ourselves? Is this some meta commentary on how the reader is essentially a god, controlling how the narrative plays out, and the book is just making us assume our rightful position. Or maybe the book is just bad, jury is still out.

The Coldest War - Page 28

Amy opens the TARDIS door and quickly slams it shut again—it’s freezing outside, with snow even entering the TARDIS. The Doctor identifies the location as near the South Pole in Antarctica and warns that the backup power has failed. Amy wants to stay inside due to the cold, but the Doctor insists they must leave. He finds some snowsuits and gives you and Amy one each. Though they don’t seem very thick, he assures you that you won’t feel the cold.

  • If you decide to exit the TARDIS first, go to 88.
  • If you let Amy go first, go to 62.

Is this the first choice where we actually do something?

Not if we let Amy go first :winking_face_with_tongue:

As we are, from what I can assume, a child, it would be responsible to let the adult go first, alas, that’s boring so Geronimo!

If the we go first, maybe we can immediately fall down a ravine and die, thus escaping this god awful book.

I finally got to pick an option with the word “decide” in it. Woo hoo!

I half expected us to decide what door the Doctor goes through to get to the wardrobe room and then a couple more choices about what colour suit we want to wear.

But it looks like we’re finally getting somewhere.

Which is why Amy has to go first.

Maybe we’ll go oh no! It’s cold out here and just immediately turn back inside and go home.

If we’re first out the door we can find something to drink faster! I’m parched…
