Death and the Queen

This is one of the few Big Finish stories I listened so far , I think it was both hilarious and heartwarming , Hortense was my favourite in this!

I do actually have access to this audio as it’s available on BBC Sounds.

I’ve heard good things about it, so I may have to listen soon!

It’s certainly great, as is the entirety of that box set. But then again, I’m a fan of Ten and Donna, so I’m probably biased…

Some of the Ten/Donna moments were so funny!

Contender for best Tenth Doctor audio story.

An episode or two of Dalek Universe may be better but they’re very much in situ as part of a longer series, Death and the Queen as a standalone is the best Tennant audio I think.

That’s a great one! Still my favourite 10th Doctor Adventure (that I’ve heard). James Goss is a brilliant writer!

I had to research what they say about oysters

Ah, this was my first audio drama! It’s such a fun story. Ten and Donna are great, peak of their dynamic.

I’m curious about Dalek Universe as well!

So worth every penny omg I loved it!

Does Dalek Universe work without the context of basically every classic series dalek story? I liked it, but found it quite lore heavy (but I know I tend to be more finicky about that kind of thing than most)

I don’t remember you needing any Dalek context, more the Anya context than anything I’d say.

Oh, is she in anything else?

Yeah, she originates in the 4DA’s as a 4th Doctor companion! There’s also a prequel story to Dalek Universe with 4/Leela.

I might check those out then!

I guess I need to watch classics first in order to get there

Dalek Universe will spoil the outcome of them, and you are probs already spoiled unfortunately, but that’s because DU came out YEARS after the 4DA’s. That being said, if you just go into DU with a rough knowledge of her/4 you’ll be fine, that’s how I went into it. I did the first few with 4 years prior but never finished, and got spoiled abt the outcome.

Oh no I wouldn’t say that at all! You honestly don’t even need to do the series with 4!

Oh I felt like that because maybe I should get to know 4’s era first!

One of the great things about Doctor Who is you can experience it in the way you would like, so you can do things in your own order.

You can probably listen to Dalek Universe without having done any previous stories.

But if you want to familiarise yourself with Four, then do that!
