The Tories, in their idiotic wisdom, have appointed the UK’s number one expert in hating David Tennant, Kemi Badenoch, as their new leader.
Has a party ever been so out of touch with the public? Why would anyone vote for somebody who based their entire campaign on making digs at one of the UK’s most beloved actors?
I’m so angry she’s won the race. She is a bigot and is completely out of touch. That whole ‘I was middle class but became working class when I worked in McDonalds’ is such arrant nonsense and yet she clearly couldn’t see why it was. You’re not working class because you got yourself a job.
Agree 100%, its not as superficial as she hates a Doctor Who.
Also this, which should be mentioned by the PM at every opportunity when discussing the leader of the opposition or engaging with her. Definitely every time she mentions the inevitable being tough on crime mantra.
Yes, I agree and I do get that but… it takes such little effort to be educated. Again, intolerance thrives on ignorance. I guess that being ignorant and bigoted is just too easy for some.
To be silent against the bigots is to be complicit in their bigotry.
Very true. I have had many in my socials respond to my criticism of her being appointed Tory leader by calling David Tennant abusive names, and I’m just reminding them that he only made a public criticism of her because of her extreme views on the LGBTQ community.
I’m not even being sarcastic but were there even any better choices? It seems like the Tories have taken the (US) Republicans’ route of hate as a platform.
(As opposed, of course, to Labour, who have… never mind!)
I still rewatch Carol Vorderman’s uproarious laugh when she’s played the clip of Kemi from time to time. https://www.instagram.com/p/C_dLjthIRLZ/
(And the second comment - “Poor Kemi, don’t you think she looks tired?” - is currently making my life.)
It is sad to see Rowling now. I like the Harry Potter series a lot and want to enjoy it, but it feels harder and harder whenever I see anything she does.
I’m glad that I never really got into the Harry Potter series. I read a few books in Chinese as a kid, and later some of the English audiobooks during high school. I also watched some of the movies, and enjoyed them a lot before things got all epic. It’d be too hard to find out the writer you loved as a kid turns out to be like… this.
I know that and I am usually kind of good at doing that but it is something that she wrote seven books about standing up to fascism and bigotry and now it feels like she switched sides on this which makes it extra hard to do this.
